Re: Help Needed - Arduino Water Meth Injection Controller
Yes it will. My quick (and probably very inaccurate) calc for the IRL540 says you'll need to dissipate up to 10w worst case. With no heatsink the FET will increase in temp 62*C per watt, so would exceed its maximum operating temp of 175*C pretty quickly. If you used a heatsink like this one - https:...

Re: Help Needed - Arduino Water Meth Injection Controller
Yeah, as long as you used something appropriate.
A 2n7002 isn't going to cut it here
Have a look at the IRL540 as an example, its a logic level FET (so can be driven directly from an arduino i/o pin) and is rated at 100V and 28A - and they're dirt cheap too.

Macchina M2 OBD platform on kickstarter
Has anyone looked at the Macchina M2 on Kickstarter? It sounds interesting... http://macchina.cc/content/glimpse-inside-m2 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1029808658/macchina-the-ultimate-tool-for-taking-control-of-y ARM Cortex M3, Arduino Due compatible 2 channels of CAN, 2 channels of LIN/ K-...

Re: Arduino Library
Here's some Arduino sketches that I found a while ago, it's hardcoded for a specific ECU so would need some work to make it more modular. If all the I/O you need is a UART and SPI lines for the displays, have a look at some of the ESP8266 modules, i.e. ESP-12E. They're Arduino IDE compatible, have b...

Re: Help Needed - Arduino Water Meth Injection Controller
Yeah, that should be pretty straightforward to build.
Any reason why you wouldn't just use a FET instead of the SSR?

Re: VFD to power 415v 3 phase engine from 240v single phase
I've been running my 3HP turret mill from one of those 2.2kw VFDs for years with no issues. I still haven't got around to rewiring the motor for 240v though. I have the current limit set to 7 amps because I'm running the mill off a domestic 4 way power board and extension cord  but I think I'v...

Re: Laptop fault hardware or software?
In "Power options" control panel, change the plan settings, go into advanced, find the CPU options and set the max % for plugged in and on battery. If the CPU has overheated it's likely to be permanently damaged, but reducing the speed (and heat) might reduce the symptoms to a usable state...

Re: Laptop fault hardware or software?
Yeah my first guess would be a cooked CPU.
Try reducing the CPU speed to ~50% and see if that stops the problems.
