The Latest Hardware Mods For The Delco ECM and PCM

Post by VL400 »

Now that some initial testing is complete here are some pictures of some new products that will be available very shortly. Combine these hardware modifications with some software for the ECM/PCM and a laptop, and you can turn any ECM or PCM from VN to VX into a realtime tuning capable device.

NVRAM Conversion for VN to VS (Excluding Ecotec) ECMs and PCMs...with this device plugged in you have dual maps, writable calibration data for real-time tuning, cyl select by jumpers instead of having to search for a memcal that matches the number of cylinders the engine has, customisable knock sensor filtering by just soldering on any filter board - this means you can easily run say a V6 knock filter board on a V8, this is important for people running non-GM engines that want to keep accurate knock filtering and many other features...

NVRAM Conversion for VS Ecotec and later PCMs... with modified software for the PCM this device allows for writable calibration data over ALDL on VS Ecotec and later sequential PCMs...

Communications board to enable 8192baud ALDL on VN and VP ECMs...sick of 160 baud ALDL and cant find a VR/VS manual ECM? This will allow 8192 baud data from the ECM to a PC via a standard serial cable. No special ALDL cable required once this is installed...

Stay tuned for pricing, availability and software :D

i must say now that i've seen the completed product the black board sure does look alot better than the usual green :)

i like the rx ands tx leds too.... i assume the jumper on the vs ecotec board is for switching calibrations ?

im just guessing the jumper is like a write protect jumper as you wont fit more than one bin on there.

It looks like it says W_EN under it (Write ENable) Very useful feature to have when your developing software. saves trashing your nvram too often when your developing stuff like antusprom :)

Yep your onto it, its a write enable jumper - with the jumper on it allows write mode. Both NVRAM boards have this now. Once your done making changes for awhile just remove the jumper to hopefully stop the NVRAM from becoming corrupt for no reason.

Thats some good stuff you have there VL400.
Are you making these boards or sourcing them from elsewhere?
Even though i have an Ostrich2 and a couple of VR ecu's and a 165ECM to fall back on,the 8192 ALDL board for the 808 will be a big winner as even a milkbar will have an 808 ECU lying around somewhere. Also hanging on to the old serial laptop has it benifits too.
With the soon to be released Tunerpro RT V5 your timing might be spot on .
Good luck with it.
