Cool car!

I went to O'Brien's Auto Shades to get a rear venetian blind for my Isuzu Florian and they showed me pics of a Cresta they had recently done. They said that because of the rear window, it was the hardest rear shade they'd made in 60 years of business!!!

Do they have any for Bellett, Dave ?

what do they cost?

I like them. If cost is ok, could be interested. Maybe a few others might get it on it ?

As usual this year's Revival was a cracking event, glorious weather and excellent, very competitive racing from the start.
Sadly not for our Chris though, here's the Cresta in the paddock

....and on only the second lap of qualifying his 'celeb' driver Rupert Keegan wrong slotted and buzzed the engine, resulting in a rod through the block. Weekend over.

So we don't finish on a low note, here's a few snaps of the event.

Initially cynics thought this would be a gimmicky bit of tokenism.....Goodwood gathered together a handful of vets from WW2 and drove them around the circuit in a couple of dozen Willys Jeeps....it wasn't....ten deep and for two and a half miles they rose to their feet and clapped, and you could see the pride on the old boys faces (many of whom had to be lifted into their Jeeps) A special moment.

The Can Am cars provided the race of the weekend...also the fastest..averaging 109mph for a lap!

Believe it or not, hardly a scratch, and they all raced on.

Pitty about Chris' Cresta, such a smooth looking car.
I purpose it's better to have someone blow an engine on you than put into a wall or the rear of someone elses car

Great pics Pom B, they give me tarmac envy

Davo, you must be the all Aussie champion of those 'spot the difference' competitions.....

I have actually chatted with Greg about coming over to one of the Nationals, trouble is that old enemy work keeps getting in the way, and when you're running a historic racer (especially one that keeps blowing up)....you've gotta keep working!
I suppose you could call it irony that it's owning Bellett that's stopping me from attending the Bellett Nationals!
...............one day, perhaps when we've put a Lotus Cortina to bed, and I've hung up my Sparco kit.

I'm pleased to say that 5 years on from the rod through the block incident my old mate Chris has since rebuilt the Cresta, and an invite to this years Revival has dropped through the letter box.

This year his guest driver is Tiff Needell, who is well known to be, how do we put it delicately?...enthusiastic in his driving style. Everything will be crossed in the hope that he'll bring the old Vauxhall back in one piece on the Saturday, so Chris gets his half hour in the sun on the Sunday.

The Revival this year is the 13th - 15th of September.
