Hi All I have trawled through the archieves and need some clarrification please.
Shockies for lowered front?
Apparently HK for standard height so an wondering a/ If this applies to all for corners then technically if you lower the front with rear springs then HK should be the go b/ HQ in front if lower but what defines 'lower' As per a/ if lower front with rear springs then HK should be OK?

The 4 corners are the same shock mate. Ht should be fine for lowering, as you reach the bump rubbers before bottoming the shock. If anything, these shocks can top out in standard height cars.....if your wheels are off the ground. Some brands are thicker in the body and wont go through the wishbone.....easily. KYB are ok. Bottom mount tang is narrower, so if fussy, press your Bellett ones into them. Or use big washers and half washers. Hope this helps, cheers, Matt.

i like the kyb over the Monroe shocks but that's my opinion. The konis are nice, just seem to be pricey but the adjustable ones work well once you find the settings that suit your driving!

We put the pedders comfort gas in Robs bellett Bella, was low and felt nice on the road.

been a long time since I fitted them to robs car, but pretty sure they just fitted with a bit of light scratching of the paint on the body of the shock, but we didn't need to do any grinding.

Also nice to know about the brands, thanks. I havent bought any since about 1980, Doris has her original ones, still good. Black Betty's were had it, but a set came in some parts I scored. Cheers, Matt.

My cars are lower than most. Little trick from experience. HK-T-G bottom out if you go that low. Blew a brand new set to bits in under 1000k coz they stop before the bump stops. All use HQ. 2 inches shorter in the stroke so they never bottom out. Just means they dont extend as far, but that's not important. Heavy duty in the front and standard in the rear makes them handle much better than the same spec all round. That goes for any Bellett, lowered or not. Always had good results from Koni, Boge, KYB, Tokico, Monroe, Pedders. Gabriel are rubbish.
