I'd be in that! That car would be a great novelty in Aus :)

Freight would be heaps cheaper than from Japan....

Cheers.

It'd be eligable under the 15 year rule (now the pre 1989 rule) pretty easily. None of the online car shippers that I just checked have an advertised price, you need to go through the quote systems.

Wow you should have seen the reaction that my wife gave me when I said, "There's this really cheap Bellett going in NZ.... I wonder how much it would cost to freight here....?"

Well....

I tried to argue that because it's a 1971 and has a different bonnet and vents in the rear guards, that it's technically not the same as the ones I've already got.

This however didn't fly.

But I've got a quote coming from a freight company anyway ;)

That guy would be moi :)

Undecided as to what I will be doing as yet, have purchased site unseen so need to inspect bodywork and rust issues if any.

If body is good I will look at an engine conversion, possibly sr20det or 4age turbo.

If body needs work then I will put engine on the back burner and get a friend to panel and paint in gloss white and I'll tidy up the chrome work all round.

Hopefully pick up tomorrow so will let you all know how it is :D

shipping from Japan RORO for a small car would be less than US$1000. Don't know why it is $3500 from NZ. clyde

Who did you get the quote through dave?

Good to have you on board Alistair. Keep us posted on what you decide to do. An SR20DET Bellett has a nice ring to it ;)

I can't remember who I emailed - some company off the 'net. They didn't have a RORO that went from NZ to Australia so they were talking about putting it in a container which is where the price starts to hoik up.

Plus I think they just gave me a P.O.A.D.* quote.

(Piss Off And Die)

$1000 for a RORO? Where can I sign up for one of those Eagle-Sayama fastbacks? Who will go $1000 each for one and we'll share it each 3 months? hahahhaahhaa
