Just found this on Gumtree, says it's a 63 but and only one left in Australia so obviously not a forum member who knows better but look to be a fairly tidy and almost complete teardrop sedan.
Asking $4500

Strike me down with a feather
That looks just like my Dad's old teardrop
Even has the 'front modifications' care of yours truely running out of brakes and slamming into another car's derrière
Right neighbourhood and all in Northen Beaches of Sydney
Sold it back in 1980's for $300....
Wow

Apparently you've gotta be quick! Just shows that plenty of people love and want them, and many are old school and dont look on computers much. I have friends that have never used a computer for anything, at all. And they have phones, but only for ringing up. Not all are older than me either.
How many do you see on the roads day to day? Its pretty uncommon, so I suppose I can see how they might imagine the rarity.
Lift your sights, values are moving.
Cheers, Matt.

Car NOT sold yet
I've been bouncing emails with Tristam most of the day and he said had to pull the ad (for some reason) but will be putting it up on Gumtree again later in the week with more photos and hopefully more info.
He told me someone was going to look at it on Wednesday (obvious now that's you Davo) so he'd take pics of the car then.

He is pretty keen on getting $4000-$4500 as that's what it owes him apparently. I told him that might be a bit more than he'll ever be offered (even from a teardrop nut like me) but he has his mind seet so who am I to argue.

It has a late model alloy head motor and said his old man having trouble with sump clearance or something ??

Davo may be able to shed some light if he does go and check it out

Hi folks,I just saw this posting. This Teardrop is the one I sold 2 months ago to a guy named Tristan. It is the one that had the later model Deluxe badge on the bootlid. There are pics somewhere here on the forum when I bought it a couple of years back. He bought it from me sight unseen for his dad and I delivered it to a mechanics yard at Liverpool (a mate of his dads).I never actually met the guy or his dad,it was all phone calls, texts and a bank deposit!
The pic on Gumtree is the same one took on my camera and emailed him as proof of delivery,so Tristan may well not have seen the car yet.It has the later alloy head Bellett motor with finned sump.Dont know what clearance issue there was as was fine before ..?
Apparently his dad either had a Bellett or remembered them well and had always wanted one so he bought it for him.
Looks like his circumstances have changed and needs the cash.
Cheers,Rod.

What a tangled web!
Cant blame him for trying I guess, makes me wonder about the story though.
So thanks Rod, at least we know the car, and how much it really owes him!
Good little car, but might he need to reduce his profit margin?

Cheers, Matt.

All is well here Davo, and I have a '66 Valiant VC wagon for the family now that Nicolas was born on 30th march :D (though they are nearly as hard to find as an Express wagon these days too ! )
Carla and bub are well.He is a big boy at 4.065kg and 54.5 cm long.Things didn't go exactly to plan and it was an emergency caesarian ,but all worked out OK thank God.
Yeah Matt, some of Tristans stories I found a bit strange .He struggled to get the $ together 2 months ago at the time and said he had spent 10 grand on his VC Valiant leather upholstery already and had spent 5 grand on a Valentines hotel weekend with his girlfriend, but the hotel had accidentally doubled it and he was hit with a 10 grand hotel bill and was waiting for the hotel to refund 5K ! He really wanted the Teardrop ,and thats the reason he gave for not having the $ at the time and wanted the car delivered before he paid . I of course said no way,and then the $ came through a day later.... so the stolen 60K story I would take with a grain of salt.He may be hit with bad luck or has money issues or both ,who knows.
He or his dad may have already spent some dollars on the car or realised that it it is a big and expensive job to get a 50 year old car back on the road that has been stored away for 10 years.
I know from years of owning old cars, especially Valiants ,that even the good ones need constant TLC.
