Hi all, I've been absent from the forum for most of the year, due to a new job, finishing my PhD (I'm now officially a Doctor of Applied Science) and a generally busy family life. Matt just contacted me about doing a Bellett calendar for 2013 which I think is a good idea for the 50th Birthday. So I'm up for it, but I need to get the photos fast so we can have it delivered for Christmas. So if you are all interested, send my whatever photos you have. They need to be reasonably good resolution - most digital camera pics are OK, but phone pics tend to be too small to print well at A4 size. Best to send them to vichughes165@gmail.com Cheers, Vic

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, and for you pictures – And keep them coming! I wanted to run an idea past you for the cover, which I was thinking might celebrate the Bellett’s 50th birthday. Perhaps I could use artwork from the advertising/publicity material for the original (or very early) Bellett period?. I did something like this for the cover of the Sunbeam calendar – 2013 is the 50th of a car called the Sunbeam Venezia – you can see it at this link. It adds a sort of period/nostalgia element to the calendar http://www.flickr.com/photos/60704211@N ... 020796372/I would appreciate your thoughts on this idea. There are quite a few brochures etc loaded up in the history section. I could pick some from here, but would probably need someone (dave?) to send me high resolution versions of them. Cheers, Vic

Just a quick heads up. The calendar may cost more this year. It looks like the publisher is in the process of raising their standard calendar price from $14 to $19 - a big hike I know but there's not much I can do about it. I have looked at other printers offering the same small-print-run service and their prices seem to be in the same ballpark. To be honest I'm not surprised because they have been around the current price for at least 5 years. But the timing is a bit cynical.
I almost have enough pics (could use a couple more). Brett, if you have some early brochure artwork scans I'd love to see them (scans need to be at least 300dpi to print well). For the cover I was thinking about combining smaller 4 pics from early brochures - the ones in the History section are quite good resolution but seem a bit small in size. I'll have a play with some this weekend and see how they print if enlarged. I hope to get most of the pics ready and uploaded to the publishing site this weekend, so the sooner I get pics the better.
Cheers, Vic

OK everyone we have a calendar, ready for purchase. As usual, the calendar is published bu Lulu Publishing, and you can buy copies direct from the link that follows. Unfortunately, Lulu hve put their prices up and this year it will cost $18.99 plus shipping - as the calendars are printed here in Australia, shipping isn't too bad. I still think it's reasonable value for the quality - A4 size, glossy, full colour, printed on quality heavy paper/light card especially as you can buy as little as one calendar at a time. http://www.lulu.com/shop/victor-hughes/ ... 62030.htmlMany thanks everyone for the pictures, and sorry if your favourite didn't make it - I had a few too many in the end and had to make some hard choices. I have kept them all for possible inclusion in next years. Brett, thanks for your offer for the cover, in the end I was able to use the stuff I downloaded from this website. (I got cheeky with the cover and one of the pics is a ring-in (but is Bellett related). I have loaded some lo-res versions of the pics to Flickr so you can see what's in it (take alook, you may be surprised). Here's a link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/60704211@N ... 195871782/Hope you enjoy!! Cheers, Vic

Gerry,
It helped that everyone sent in pics so quickly. As I always say, I only do half the work on this - the rest is you guys.
Cheers, Vic
