I took our GT on a Classic Sports Car Run with a local club on New Years Day. About 40 cars of all marques attended (1930's to 1980's ) Started at 8 am and finished by 11.30 am. Home for lunch. It was good to do a run with other makes. The GT certainly drew some attention amongst the drivers of mainly British and European makes. All thought that Belletts were pretty good in their day . KB

Keep em comin Gents, we may have to place them under the right topics though?? Good onya Kerry, these Events are extra good for our cars, gets them out there and in focus, far too many people report by saying "I didn't think there was so many Belletts around", what you have done is a great start. In saying that, those on Conditional or Club Rego, need to advise their Club on the use and the Event to make it legal and take Club membership with them as well as a document on the Event, advise their Club so it can be log booked, at least in NSW ANYWAY. preparation for the Sunday Cruise... front wheel brake cyclinders both stripped, new cup seals and re-fitted with new linings. brakes all bled tune-up all ready with plugs and points for tomorrow and, last but not least, the carburetor which is driving me crazy. But you cant get kits for the early Hitachi 2 barrel with mechanical weight secondary. had to get a Florian late series with Vacuum Secondary done. have a look at it..... Attachment:

that should run a little better on the cruises OZ

Hi everyone Here's an update
I've finished the underside of the racing Bellett - all completely stripped, tin worm removed and a 3 step paint job (KBS Coatings, like Por 15 but from Aus ad not as expensive) so it now has a very glossy, hardened underbody. It's only limitation is that it doesn't stand up to Ulta violet rays from direct sunlight but I don't intend for the underneath to be upwards very often. most of the rest of the shell is 60% done with all removable panels about 90% ready for topcoats. I 'm trying to get them finished before the weather breaks up - usually around ANZAC Day down here. all suspension members have had the same treatment. Spent a night in hospital due to inhalation of too much thinners, but got injected with enought pain killers to keep the NW Tasmanian poppy farmers in business.
My fully ported G150 hot cylinder head (who needs OHC ot DOHC ayway)with 6mm stem stainless Ferrea valves (Datto 300Z and Mitsubishi Eclipse), beehive springs and titanium retainers is at the engineer's shop having new holes drilled and threaded in the right places to take the GT Maniold that Gt Orph sent me a while back. That job was too scarey for me as I didn't want to hit fresh air. While there a header plate and clamps are being made and the mainifold altered to take SUs rather than hitachis (the locating holes are in different places.) The completed block is sitting on a bench looking very lonely and has done so for about a year now. I've read many posts about brake upgrades to disc and admire those who have attempted this and also those who succeeded in it!! My upgrade is one that hasn't been done yet at least to my knowledge but I'm keeping that to myself until it is done and then I'll let you all in on it. I don't want to stick my neck out in case it doesn't work. Photos and technical details will be posted when it's all done.
I'm bringing about 5 other Tasmanians to the Phillip Is Classic in March and may catch up with some of you then, I'm sure Brett will be there and I'll find him among the crowd, standing around a Falcon I reckon. Regards to all, best wishes, YP

Nice to hear people are into it! Good on yez! Gary Carter's replacement auto is now fitted & works like a beaut, with thanks to a local mate, Brad, who has a nice new workshop with hoist. . They got it together with little help from me as I've given my back a twinge. Also with thanks to Rod 50 Bells, who supplied the transmission for free. Now we just have to swap the head gasket & it will be good as new. All good fun, Cheers, Matt.

my blue track car has been on hollidays a week at nambour getting a full cage and home for a week and then spent another week having a set of tuned headers built to suit and a inlet manifold to attach twin 45 webers. The new engine has had a fair few internal mods i am hoping it goes like stink. With the last 4 events the car has run second in class i am hoping i can fix that Also after spending a few days with Mr Tom Bellett in sydney i dont know who suffered the most brain fade the one asking or the one answering . On another note bruce the bribie car is back on the road with overheating problems so i was going to put a gt head on it. With a little discussion with liz i suggested that we pull walters engine out and fit it to warwick and fit her homeless race engine to walter and the colour drained from her face as i had a FIRM NO and Lizzie said fit it to bruce. WAHOO. The blue car has had a new seat that is fitted almost 4 inches off the drivers door and has been set up for myself and Lizzie can get the seat to suit her also. As i need head room the seat is mounted to the floor that gives me 50mm between the helmet and the roof. This does not work for Liz as she can't see nuffin We have plans when the time come to make a seat insert. If i build another race car it will be a sports sedan so Lizzies old engine will not be needed. I will confess the car has been started but a little like yp i dont want to go fully into it in the case it may be a failure. The only place the shell had bad rust was around the rear wheels i found a set of flares to cover this area. This is a maybe project but with the flares done on the drivers side as the door was rusted also i could experiment without stuffing a good shell or door. The flares do not allow the rear doors to open so with the rear cut out it is screwed shut a 2 door sports mock up comes to life as for the rest of the shell it is in good condition only the rhr floor pand has rust where water was sitting and the lower rear quarter behind the wheel. It has had a tap in the front but only in stone tray that was removed before i got it. In the case i go ahead i will fit a fiberglass air dam in its place. The car is SUPER UGLY as there must be at least 20 coats of house paint on it [drivers door was that thick i could only just feel the door lock ] but the gernie has rmoved most of it [it must feel better with all them layers removed]. A trip to the sandblaster will be in order anyway.

Hey Guys, We had a fairly quiet Xmas New Year break. I was without my Rufus Hate to admit it but the vibration from my newly rebuilt engine was annoying and caused 2 fuel lines to break so in early December out it came to get balanced. Planned to install a new clutch at the same time so I bought a Gemini G161 pressure plate ( new Bellett ones unavailable in Oz) and Bellett driven plate... Not realising till fitup time that the 3 prong Gemini pressure platedoesn't fit onto 2 prong Bellett flywheel. D'oh, should have remembered this from 20 years ago. Decided to recondition the old clutch, over Chistmas, which it was actually balanced with and engine running sweet now Thanks Greg for the advice on the 16mm spigot bearing, got the right one in there now I changed the dicky front wheel bearings too. Their Case hardening was worn through. So guys, worthwhile checking yours if they haven't been changed in years. On your race car Greg, don't make an seat insert to suit Liz, just make her a padded booster bum inset for her Cheers, Lewis

you got to luv the little mind game isuzu play new engine in the track car i decided to keep Gleens alternator with the car as it is wired a set up for that car so i tried to bolt it on to the mounts nah dont fit I expected that so the mount of the luv engine i will bolt it to the bellett engine looks zactly the same front bolts up nice i get exited and the rear holes dont line up many mods later all is good. The flywheel thing Lewis bellett flywheel 4 stud, luv 6 stud ,isuzu dohc 6 stud the flywheel on a gem 1600 is smaller than the 2.0 the 2.0 will work on the dohc then the is the pressure plate to suit the flywheel dowls and the right size and on top of this some later gearboxes are fine spline this will do you head in quite easy.
