Hi all, all I can tell you at present is that the Nationals will be held Thursday 16th - Monday 20th October 2014 at this stage, we are still trying to confirm accommodation but at this stage Rods comment of Ulverstone is not correct. We are working on Devonport. And for Glenn, one accommodation place for the event not multiple places, hope this helps all. TT Line (spirit of Tasmania) do not open there special event bookings for Oct 2014 till Nov this year. Rest assured we will keep you posted when we have confirmation from many different people
Cheers Steve & Peg ( 2014 organizers )

Steve we have a cjcc meeting on the 20th would it be possible to confirm that the 16th will be date of the nationals. [at present still leaves a little doubt ;) ] We need to start our own itinerary as we are spending a few weeks in the area.

Agreed! I've got very limited and precious leave from the new job that I need to get sorted earlier rather than later!

Thinking about making it a slightly longer holiday but need to know when :)

hearing u loud and clear mate, and if it turns out to be the proposed weekend i'll be vocal about how long it's taken to set a date because important work events have been waiting to be set for next October and we've been waiting for the Nats date to arrange it around but still we don't know...
unfortunately the work event couldn't wait any longer and a date had to be set, but now the only weekend left in October next year is that one so guess what's happened...? yep, work has taken precedence because things have to be done.
this should have been announced in Adelaide at this year's Nats so everyone had a firm answer as to what is set, but we STILL don't know, and i know from discussions that i'm not the only one who feels concerned about what's going on too...
Steve? people need info please!

i have serious doubts as to whether i'll be attending already...

as i wrote earlier, confirmation of dates was desperately needed by more than one Bellett enthusiast, and even tho it was stated by the organiser on October 21 that:
BELLETT69 wrote:

to be the 2014 Nats dates, i, as well as others both on bellett.net that clearly posted, and those who contacted myself in other ways to ask questions as they also couldn't get any answers and thought i may have had further info, were led to believe that this was the proposed date and not finalised at that point by virtue of the "at this stage" part of the post...
clearer communication would have avoided this confusion for all, not to mention that this info should have been realised earlier than it actually was.

as i also wrote earlier, my work needs meant that i couldn't put off organising things for around that time any longer than I already had, so now i'm faced with a massive date clash, which means that a founder of the Nats is now not likely to be able to attend in 2014 unless the almighty grants a miracle in my direction from above...
i'll be doing my damned-est to change what i have to tho to be at the 2014 Nats, rest assured.

the organiser has advised that we can forward any queries... i have one that i'd like answered asap please, as it too could be a determining factor to whether i attend, and the possible attendance of others who have spoken to me as well:
the dates are advertised as 16th to 20th Oct. is this meant to be that the attendees arrive on the 16th and depart on the 20th, or do they arrive on the 15th and depart on the 21st, meaning the dates of Nats activity are 16th - 20th?
my point here is that should attendees expect to be paying for 4 nights of accommodation, or 6?

thanks in anticipation.

I think you guys need to back off a bit as I don't think that any of the main land cars are going to go for four days only, and the fact that we now have the core dates for the event we should be able to work around that. It would be a large task to organize from a remote location, and I am sure that Steve and Peggy will put on a great week end for us, and they don't need us to keep putting pressure on them.

Cheers Geoff. :D

I have to agree with pr95. My posting was for confirmation of date for our meeting, so we can move towards organizing our trip and I thank S & P for this confirmation. We know it will tabled tonight ;). Now we can move forward. Please note my post was not intended to start a conflict.

back off? why should i?
questions were asked by multiple people via multiple channels and no answers were forthcoming, which just adds to confusion and causes angst.
the organiser hadn't even logged in to bellett.net for near on a month so it's obvious why those questions weren't answered... and now i've asked a legitimate question last nite, the organiser has logged on since and no doubt read it, yet it has been ignored.
this event was put forward over 2 years ago so why hasn't this stuff been done and dusted ages ago?
and btw... it's a very bold statement to say that mainland cars won't go for the four days only... if i go, and that's a huge if, it'll be for the minimum time as i have a family to look after and a business to run.

The only thing that should concern us at this stage is the dates, and as far as I can see we have them, It is your choice if you attend or not and if you want to go for 4 days only That is up to you, most people that I have spoken to are going to make a holiday of it and intend to spend time before and or after the event. It's still early days and is 10 months away.

agreed PR95.
my point is that this should have been finalised a long time ago, which it was entirely possible with the amount of lead in time so far, to just announce the dates and preliminary arrangements via a proper announcement to avoid the situation that it became, especially since the Adelaide Nats, and for more people than just myself, so the need to ask these basic questions was negated.
anyway, what's done is done and we can now look forward and try to set our individual in place plans to make sure it's another great week/weekend for the Bellett family.
cheers.
