Hi people,
The Kernewek Lowender Copper Coast Cornish Festival Cavalcade of Cars (phew what a mouthful) is on Sunday 17 May 2009.
The vent is $40/car and is eligible for all cars built before 1980.
The event is the 2nd largest of it's kind in South Australia after the Bay to Birdwood and I've been meaning to go on it for the last million years and have never gotten around to it!
It is a rolling display that goes from Wallaroo to Mootna, then to Port Hughes and on to Kadina.
I've heard a few mystery Belletts show up to this show... I know of one guy up that way who is not on our forum, but apparently a few others get out as well.
Entries close on 30 April 2009!
The only car I've got comfortable and reliable enough to drive that far is the ratBellett, so I'll be entering that. I'm keen!
Entry forms downloadable from:
weww.kernewek.org
Be there!
Cheers,
Dave

Hi people,
Is anybody coming to this?
GToo? Miss Bellett? 2LDOHC? Antus?
I had a couple of other non-Belletts coming up, but both of them bailed as well!
If I'm going solo I'll look like a loser, but I'll still do it!!!!!
Cheers,
Dave

Hey Kids, Well Bruno GTtoo and I did the Classic Cavalcade. First time I've done this event and it was truly cool! It was like a miniature Bay to Birdwood! There was a stack of nice cars there and here are some of them! Firstly, Bruno was conned into entering the judged section, which was no good in the end as the non-judged were parked in a different area, splitting up our squadron of Belletts (2 cars counts as a squadron). My Bellett has now been fitted with some awesome Japanese writing. Although someone will probably tell me I'm wrong, the Google translator says that it's "Ginza Provence Isuzu Taxi". At least, that's what I typed into the translator and the symbols are what I got at the other end. Originally I typed "Taxi Cab" but it had the same sequence of four symbols written twice, so I can only assume "taxi" and "cab" are the same in Japanese! I had at least two people ask me if I'd imported the car from Japan and overheard old guy say, "It must've been some kind of Hong Kong taxi!". This means that the new writing has been suitably aged! Onto some oddballs first! This is a Lightburn Zeta. These were built in Adelaide, South Australia from 1963 to 1966 by Lightburn, who had previously been big in washing machines. As a result, they were taunted cruelly for having a 'washing machine motor', however in reality they had a not-much-better 2-stroke, 2-cylinder 324cc Villiers motor and no reverse gear. Famously, you ran the motor backwards and engaged first gear to get rearward motion. This mean that it could theoretically do the same speed backwards as forwards! With features such as no rear hatch (luggage had to be access through the front side doors), no bolted-down seats (they lifted out so one could access the rear, plus use them as deckchairs at local sporting events) and with rivals such as the Mini, it's no wonder there were only 363 Zetas built in total. Absolutely !! What a day. Early start through the foggy mist. Then pull up at Bolivar to see Dave and Jerro rolling in from the mist. At this point there where alot of Holdens and Fords also rolling in from the dark. Monaro's, limited editions and GTO's, hot Capris. Also Volvo two door circa 60's vintage which failed to see the great median strip type lump in the middle of the servo, and scraped the exhaust backing over it Fanged up to the staging point (photos up soon). Then did the crawling clutch burner, around the streets of the copper triangle. (still emensly cobbled... maybe since settlement). As Dave points out the Belletts were separated becuase some old choock talked me into putting a yellow sticker on insead of a red one which resulted also in the Shanghai taxi looking less defectable The Zeta infront of us, during some of the trek spat some fine oil back at the GT. I ended up looking like some fastidious old gent rubbring the chrome off his toy ! The Hudson just one of many examples of the giant phalixes built back then. Note also the early van has an aerial resembling the era. I guess in those days you'd stand in the van as you were in transit, poke your head out of the vent and light a cigar whilst whatching black and white TV. Hounored to start the page with those interesting curves of the GT you have captured so well Dave. Note though, it's actually built by American's not Japanese according to the flag on the aerial. After consuming megadogs and having a great session milling and finding out a heap of things of interest, it's time to hit the trail back to the big smoke. Interestingly, the only cars mingling with the modern traffic were two Belletts. The Ratter (now known as the Shanghai taxi) goes extrodinarily well and was a real pace setter. I had to blow a few 80mph stints to get within cooey again!! Grousse. Some interesting photos coming soon including the much underrated GT parked between two giant testosterone breathing penises, a Lipstick red convertible Corvette stingray and a black Buic circa '58 the size of two bulls. Ciao for now, B.

Looks like you two boys had a great day. Good to see that you both over came some earier mechanical problems and got out to show off.
Do you think that the guys on the Zeta forum have a picture of your two cars and a description of them as two odd ball Jap cars???
Dave I like the door work, well done.

Nice Pics Bruno. Well done on putting your car into the judged section. You were lucky being put next to a Corvette, the judges would have thought your car was amazing after having to look at some thing so ugly!!

Thanks 65'. the judges conversation could have been. " Wow....what's that." then move on to Corvette. "Oh.....Can't compare it to a Corvette though." Owner under his breath "OF COURSE YOU CAN'T..!!"
