How does the ECU determine exactly what TPS position corresponds to closed throttle? Every time you begin to crank, provided the throttle is actually fully closed, does it read the TPS at the actual closed position and get for example a 30/255 value and assume this 30 A/D value is fully closed against the idle stop screw and consequently works with this value? Or is the closed throttle threshold a fixed (but changeable by us) number?

ive seen in the past if I wind the throttle stop screw in while the car is running I can sometimes see the tps % go up to 1 or 2 % in the log, stop engine and restart and its back to zero. so yes it has some sort of auto calibration between starts, but that being said, it still has to be below a certain voltage at closed (somewhere near 0.6v and I believe there may be a constant for it) or it will throw an error.

there is "TPS - TPS Closed Throttle Threshold" = 1.17% in blcd

and Jayme is right, there is a voltage it has to be under to be 0% ... i thought it was .6 or .7 volts or something like that.

Okay, all good. I was thinking because the throttle shaft only moves 90 degrees it would make sense to have this more or less centered on the TPS movement of what, 270 deg? Pots are often a bit nonlinear at the extremes of travel so seeing that closed throttle holds the TPS quite a bit off zero then that's good. Now, just gotta get me a spare memcal so I don't stuff the only one I have.

Thanks guys.

The ECU continually checks the zero point. It tracks the lowest A/D (voltage) reading to use that as 0 point, it also increments this zero point by a couple of counts everytime the throttle goes above 25% to ensure the 0 point is always known.

You can try and fool it but its much smarter than a screwdriver on the stop screw

Looking for this flag to set to fire on dist ref pulse when TPS is zero. Attached is a list of the flags I have available - none seem suitable.

The Kalmaker instruction book does list something suitable though. How could I set the flag? Does it not exist in some versions of firmware?

This one also from the Kalmaker book looks like good fun, but again, can't find any reference to it in Tuner Pro.

The SPKct is Spark Closed Throttle and the flag your after.

IPS in kalmaker is idle spark in the $12 (12P) code. I dont think it is in the $5D code your running, I think it was only added later - either VP or VR.
