I think fuel would be OK as it'll fire all 8 injectors, but you'd be missing half your spark events. You'd need 2 computers to get 8 sparks, and you could set the reference angle to be slightly offset in 1 computer to share the same trigger maybe (or the signal might be 2 weak), but if that worked you'd still get timing errors on half the cylinders during crank as the modules would try and deliver 10 degrees of spark. It'd work better with 2 sensors on the crank, and the offset applied there and they could probably trigger of notches in the same wheel as they'd be in different enough spots they wouldnt physically interfere with each other. But you would end up with 2 of each of the input sensors, and tuning would be a pain.

Its been mentioned before as a possible swap for northstar but it doesn't support the stock northstar trigger pattern, hense the need to swap to 36-1.

You could use two factory DIS modules with two sensors 90 deg apart, the reference output that goes to the ECU could be simply combined through either a logic OR gate or some diodes. Thats the easy bit and would mean the ECU would get the correct pulses for a V8, cranking spark would work with each module handling 4 cyl and would actually get a running engine with spark locked to 10deg from physical teeth on the 6+1 trigger if the bypass wires were not connected.
The issue is the EST pulse from the ECU to the modules, you would get 8 pulses per cycle from the ECU but each module only needs 4 per cycle. So would need to alternate the EST pulses to each module which is not hard, the problem is you need to send the correct EST pulse to each module or spark will be firing the wrong cyl. Its not impossible but its not a simple task either and will require a small circuit to handle syncing to the trigger and alternating the correct pulses between the modules.

Along with missing tooth and a few other types, it also supports the GM DIS 6+1 trigger. this works on a ford inline 6 with d1998a modded the reluctor ring but standard crank angle sensor running 12p ref angle is 60deg and coil order is 1.6 first coil 3.4 second coil 2.5 third coil

nice, I like the tag approach instead of cutting notches.... you get less noise as the sensor is away from the main face of the ring good work.
ive had lots of headaches having to have the reluctor mounted rock solid or get misfires, hopefully thats less of a problem with your setup.

the rpm trace is clean and and response is good so far will see how it goes when the engine goes into the car with large turbo hanging from the side is for a budget drift car engine was $80 from ebay out of an AU2 car is a EA falcon that is having a big diet at the moment it is way to over weight with any luck will cause a stir at the track or explode spectacularly either way will be a laugh.

whats the toothed gear from ? it looks similar to the abs axle gears used on commodores ? although it looks like the teeth are longer .... I assume there is a spot on the back of the balancer you can attach it ?

it is the original 36/1 edis ring off the balancer they just tap off the back
