Altering DMTY (flash PCM) bin
Just picked up a VX V6 ecotec last night with the intention of fitting it to my parents in-law VR that has seen better days.
Obviously VATS needs to be disabled due to ne BCM been present in the VR but news to me I now have a flash PCM lol.
I have plenty of VS PCMs here that I can easily use but will the wiring pin outs be different between the VS PCM and VX V6 wiring looms?
If that option is no good ho might I go about altering the tune with out doing it RT as I don't have the NVRAM board as yet?

Yeah the VS and VX wiring is different, there are digrams for both in the wiring forum.
The flashtool can read and write the flash PCM so can turn off VATs easily, there is no NVRAM available for them though.

could always run the ecotec off the VR computer... more throttle response and mafless

Cool, I'm in. Other than helping out the in laws by saving a few bucks I want to learn something too.Jayme wrote:could always run the ecotec off the VR computer... more throttle response and mafless
So you're saying that I can run it on an 808?
Re: Altering DMTY (flash PCM) bin
I assume you plan on putting a manual behind it ? if yes, then yeah can run it off an 808. ive had one running of a VR auto computer and tuned to run pretty good. loads more throttle response than the MAF computer.

Nah just want to run the 4L60E that came with the Ecotec. It will not be a performance car of any type, just a daily for 2 x 65 year old parents in law lol

just run it on the VR PCM, they run really well, you will probably need to take soe spark out of the VR tune to stop it pinging though, some of them are pretty bad for that.

Yeah I guess I'm after the simplest solution at this stage so that sounds like the plan. At least I can run it RT to knock up a bit of a tune tooDoctor Bob wrote:just run it on the VR PCM, they run really well, you will probably need to take soe spark out of the VR tune to stop it pinging though, some of them are pretty bad for that.

Cheers for that Rob

For what you want with it, and what the owners are likely to want, and that you have the VY PCM and wiring wouldnt the simplest solution just to use that
