Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
Oh Crap, that sucks, do you think you can do a trade with a local trans builder?
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
prob not, just have to sell it on ebay or something.
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
Build coming along nicely. Shame about the valve body though.
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
Wow! That's some really nice work there, great photos too.
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
thanks!
Just started rebuilding the input drum, about halfway rebuilding it, hit a snag, clearance between the snap ring and Forward Clutch Pressure Plate is 2.3mm, standard clearance is 0.75mm - 1.60mm, even after a pressure testing the pistons and rechecking everything in there it's the same. The pressure plates come in different thickness mine in stamped C so might have to hunt down a B stamp one which should bring the clearance back in range. Just fired an email off my trans guy about it.

BUGGER, 1 snag after another, did you sort out valve body?
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
i have another valve body seperator plate coming from the US, wasn't expensive.
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
hey mate did you get the pressure plate sorted?
shoot me a picture of the one you have and I will check the spares I have left over from my build and you can have it if I have the right one

Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
yeh i ordered the correct one a few weeks ago, waiting for it to arrive.
Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
Well i got a fair bit done over my holidays, apart from the pump it's ready to go back together.
Looking like the stator shaft will have to stay in there as i can't find a torx bit that is strong enough even buying some top end ones for $15 a pop resulted in twisted bits. The wear isn't bad on the shaft anyway and i have new spare bushes and seals so will redo them all. Asked the transmission guy and he can only get them out with a heavy duty snapon one with a rattle gun.
I have 100's of photos to go through and update the build log, will take me a while
