I'll try here with a 29F040 DIP32 chip instead of the ribbon cable. Thanks for the tip.VX L67 Getrag wrote:I had a VX-VY flash pcm converted for me a while ago with the ribbon directly soldered to the pads for the ostrich cable & worked perfectly except it was a little unstable when going round corners or over bumps & was told it could be due to the ribbon length being too long, but was a success until I let it sit for a year & then next time I tested it I couldn't get it to work again.

Where did you get the PLCC to DIP adapter?quadstar87 wrote:I'm looping back around to this project and was hoping the higher powers have some advice. Got the Ostrich hooked in, but I can't get it to run on the address-swapped bin's. They work fine when I write directly to a chip, and pin1 on the Ostrich is going to pin1 in the socket. I should be end justifying the bin onto the Ostrich just like I would if using a larger chip, correct?

http://www.epboard.com had the best price by almost half of others. Cost of adapter was cheaper than my labor to solder on 32 tiny wires. Wait till I verify it works thoughejukated wrote:Where did you get the PLCC to DIP adapter?quadstar87 wrote:I'm looping back around to this project and was hoping the higher powers have some advice. Thanks for that! great find, I've been looking for a reasonable source for those for ages

I just end justified a bin onto a 29F040 and no luck either. I'll double check all the solder joints on this adapter tomorrow.
Re: GM 16216588 - Hacking
Perhaps try plugging the Ostrich into an Eprom reader and try reading it like an eprom? I know when I was playing with mine theres some bank configuration that isn't as initiative as it first appears...

Re: GM 16216588 - Hacking
I'm writing 60000->7FFFF and it's matching my bin when I read out the file. Still won't boot with the Ostrich or a 29F040 plugged in. I did verify the pin order of the adapter but i'll have to see if there is a disconnect somewhere of a pin not making contact for some reason.

maybe write the ostrich file to a DIP EEPROM and try that in the adapter. Sometimes the Ostrich needs a booster to work properly.

That's what a 29f040 is. Same memory array as the Ostrichejukated wrote:maybe write the ostrich file to a DIP EEPROM and try that in the adapter. Sometimes the Ostrich needs a booster to work properly.

yeah but I mean putting the file on a DIP EEPROM onto the DIP-PLCC adapter to test the adapter is working
