Re: Vlads Braking Thread Hijack
Bit of an old thread, but I'd thought I'd shed some information from when I done the brakes on my vs (irs rear end). I used the hsv c5 calipers up front 330mm x 32mm, and for the rear, I converted the handbrake to the vt style. The right way using the vt backing plate, brought a set of new rear STD vt-vz calipers and used new vz monaro rear rotors which are 286mm x 18mm VENTED (some where 16mm) and bendix ultimate rear pads. The STD caliper fit perfectly over the 18mm rotor with pads installed and works great. And swapped to a vt master cylinder, car pulls up great

I worked at PBR/Bosch currently Chassis Brakes International 2000-2014 I couldn't buy the Vn Grp rears or fronts calipers had to be purchased through HSV along with other HSV calipers with a Vin number or so they told me. It was a lot easier to politely ask the ladies on the assembly lines from some.

Here is an awesome rear brake upgrade for solid axel VN-VS commodores.
You can run STD Rear VT-VZ Disks or even go all the way up to 343mm Rear Disks
I have used these many times before and they are awesome, McDonald Bros in Melbourne do the kit.

What is the smallest rim diameter you can run with this conversion?
A mate runs a similar conversion on his VR SS but the smallest rim I believe is a 16" which becomes a problem when you run a 15" rim with drag slick.

These look pretty nice actually, looked manufactured not botched together from used parts.
Also curious about rim size min. Though I already have NOS group a calipers so I probably won't go this route unless its absolutely necessary.

Im running that setup with Vz monaro rear disks which are the same size and std VT-VZ but they are ventilated
std Vt- vz rear calipers
and all fit perfectly with a std 15" steel commodore wheel

Re: Vlads Braking Thread Hijack
That's good to know. I have VL walky rims which are 16 x 7 so will fit good.
