A picture paints a thousand words so... this is the completed engine bay with everything ready to go:

Ecu was just sitting there, with naw_7s wideband hooked up waiting for startup before cable tidy.. with a tune that would hopefully be ballpark:

Then we cranked, and it started. and ran poorly  with lots and lots of smoke pissing everywhere :o

The culprit was this device here, with oil leaking probably in the inlet side before the engine... and on to the ground underneath. Turbo was meant to be working but turns out it was DOA. Game over.

We hit the track anyway, I got in a few laps in my sr20 gemini which was awesome fun before the brake booster failed, but both projects live on and this one will be getting a reco turbo upgrade next.

Yeah, I did. It made a huge difference! I'll update that cars thread tomorrow. Have some in-car footage @1080p resolution that turned out great too.

Ross has a larger reco turbo with t3 flange sitting on the shelf, so thats now earmarked for this car.

yoda: haha mine are in focus at least :) I resized em down so they fit on smaller res screens and still show what i was intending without chewing too much bandwidth. I can send you large ones, they are 5mp in focus originally on my phone.

neRok: It idled but had too much oil pooring in from the turbo. It was missing, but it did rev when we gave it stick. The turbo let the whole system down big time though. We never bothered with the stock computer, just delcod it from the beginning, and the engine + turbo was bought it on good faith it was a runner, but as always you never know. We have a reconditioned larger T3 turbo on the shelf, so that'll be going on, but have to stop working on the cars every possible night and all weekend now haha. Back to our regular schedule.

I just received word that the replacement turbo was bolted on last night and the manifolds etc re-attached. Its exhaustless, but it started, idled and ran with no smoke. Things are looking up! Will get an exhaust on it, maybe the speed sensor and do some initial tuning on wednesday.
