I was pretty shocked yesterday watching the news - I had not heard a single word about Mercedes joining V8 Supercars. Should be good as long as the cars look the business - I was pretty bored about the Nissan Altima. Can't wait to see the Merc |

The V8 supercars bore me to tears most of the time, I love watching the brute utes though. Plenty of push and shove. Give me the British Touring Cars anyday. Now thats racing! |

Don't know much about them, except I've heard the biggest difference between the Holden & Ford is the badge on the front. Something about a 2 horse race that fails to excite. 4 will be slightly better. How about a race that goes all day and has cars the punters can buy in it. They would have to be showroom. When they have to change tyres, they have to use the provided jack & wheelbrace. And they could put it on TV. It's been done? Bring it back! Guess I'm just an old bloke, livin' in the past................. |

that's a great idea...... bring back the old racing with many classes and cars. Trouble is, most don't have a spare wheel or tools these days ! Like my ute..... just a compressor and can of muck. |

as a racer myself.... V8SC has been crap for years and years. nothing like real racing, or the cars they are supposed to represent. and the damage done by V8SC management to other catergories is a joke... but i won't elaborate. honestly, the sooner we get back to proper 'win on sunday, sell on monday' racing with real cars and different makes across different class's, the better. then i and countless others who have become bored with it might support it and go to the races... apart from Bellett's, i'm a Ford man thru and thru, so the very few times i glance at V8SC, i like to see the Ford's out in front. it's been great to see Lee in the #4 'Irwin Tools' Falcon this year (he's part of my family) after years in a bloody Holden, and i knew the Mercedes thing was coming weeks and weeks ago. to say he's excited is an understatement! and as the stunningly beautiful woman who's recently come into my life drives a Merc too, i'm biased towards them for a couple of reasons... so my opinion is: ROLL ON 2013 AND SOME VARIETY!! |

I must be one of the few on here that enjoy v8sc and think its one of the more exciting racing categories. COTF as far as I understand is just bringing in more parity and just adding 2 extra body shells (they can build their own motor as well or use 1 of the 2 already in use). |

NO, I am with you Simmo, I enjoy the racing even though they are nothing like they were in the begining when you could buy a car strenthen certain parts and go racing. From what I have read, your thoughts are very close to 100% right, same chassis, generic parts to be used and then build there own motors, the drivers seat for safety has also been moved toward the centre of the car, not right next to the door as they are now. It does get a bit boring when 1 or 2 drivers seem to be in the winning position, however that largely comes back to driver ability and money the Teams have to spend. They are going very much in the direction of NASCARS, however it is hard to argue when it is for the safety of the drivers. VERY INTERESTING next year with the introduction. so far anyway. of two more body shapes, in their first year they will go throuigh a very steep learning curve I would think |

The main thing i like is that they are putting the fuel cell in front of the axle (about bloody time), theres been at least 2 occasions things could've gone a lot worse that they did. |

The V8s to bring us some exciting racing but I have absolutely no passion or preference as to who wins. I think a production class as the premier category would be awesome AND it would reduce speeds a bit therby increasing safety. It would need to be biased somewhat to ford and Holden - therefore no awd and probably no turbos. Stick shift only. 100 homologation cars for the body kit or whatever and a sticker price limit under 100k to keep the raucous AMG Blacks out of it. Make brakes free, wheel sizes stock (or one up or something) and perhaps provide a control cu with limited tuning capacity but some wiggle room. Tony cockrane isn't going to let something like that occur in his lifetime, but a man can dream. |
