Have discovered that a Victorian E-tag for toll roads is hard to get for a Bellett.

There is no provision for entering a an Isuzu Bellett in their system. Isuzu trucks, no problems at all.

It's taken a week of to and froing with them to get the Sport finally onto my E-tag acct.

They also seemed not to understand Club permit plates.

Thats not so bad.

We have been issued with S series number plates here in SA and have been using them for nearly 2 years.

the automated booking system for weekend and single use in Melbourne Freeway system doenst allow for the S at the beginning or for a 7 digit/symbol plate.

really good programming and system they have got there !!!

Not much foresight there.

When I was organizing my E-Tag for Donkey I had to put him in as "Unspecified, Class-2"
After that it was no worries. He is on full standard rego so his plates weren't any issue though

Looks like there is a way around the issue then at least for 6 dig plates., thanks
Mine is now sorted, just waiting for the Tag. Not that i will get much uses but handy to have occasionally.

I had one in my GT, however in NSW they charge you if you use it or not, another rort by the NSW Government, so I handed it in. I would have used it only about twice a year, the RTA did not consider it enough useage.
Like rego on a caravan, in NSW $439-00 for 12 months, in QLD $180-00 approx, in VIC $67-00, bloody ridiculous!!!
How can that be justified!!!
Dave.

Hi Glenn,
Roads and Maritime Services, as it is known these days, control "E tags" in NSW.
You are right it is a bloody rip off!!

I would register in VIC if I could, need to get down there and have a VIC address, quite a few caravan owners are doing exactky that!!
Dave.

Mmmmm, i guess Govts everywhere are looking for ways of 'borrowing' our money. A friend of mine used to store vans on his 10 acre property till he sold up. Maybe some NSW ones too !

Rain and more rain down here...... 33mm overnight, another 5+ this morning.

Glenn both of my club plated cars are listed with citylink but don't require an etag because they're club plated.
i just linked the plate numbers to my account i have on my XR8 and each time i use the toll road it recognises it.
it has a 20c processing fee for not having a tag per car per trip (not per toll section) so it was heaps easier than an ugly tag stuck on each cars screen... last Saturday i used the GT on the toll road each way so it cost an extra 40c all up.
it was the first time since Feb that it's been on the tolls, and the Wasp never has, so for the very few times they see the road at all let alone the toll road, 20c is nothing to worry about.

fair enough, not aware of that trick. But e-tag is on the way anyway. Again, it will see few if any trips but handy, 'just in case'

The issue i had was the system does not recognize Bellett as a car when adding via the web.

I have been driving on Citylink and Eastlink with my club plated cars no e-tag for the last couple of years and have had no issue. I was told by some one that as club plates are not on the Vicroads database it is extremely difficult for any one to get your information(the police can't even get it on the roadside).I don't recommend this tactic as it can't work forever but it has worked so far.

Interesting !!

thanks for all the feedback. My original point though was if you try to do it over the Web, which seems the simplest to me (no phone on hold etc) then the "system" fails. It simply does not allow an Isuzu Bellett to be entered into the system.

It's moments like these we should all have James Bond-style flip plates.

I'm coming over next weekend in the VY Sandman (towing the GTR) but hope not to drive down any toll roads in that.

So then it'll be the GTR.. so hopefully won't drive down any toll roads in that either!

Perhaps I'll just wing it and see if they send me a bill via Services SA (our RTA/RMS/VicRoads). Historically Registered cars are certainly still on their database...
