Lost in all the media BS fest about Millen in his GTP car and Tajima in a heavily winged Suzuki SX4 and who will break the ten minute mark, is the fact that someone other than those two managed to take a second place finish and move Millen to third place.

Paul Dallenbach drove a Chevy powered wing cart up the mountain in 10:39.5 minutes, almost a half second faster than Millen in his GTP car. This was Dallenbach's 19th consecutive appearance in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and they seem to have just bestowed legend status on him for both his attendance and his wins and records (three time overall winner).

Dallenbach is a professional driver, with a long list of automobile commercials on his resume. Not to mention a second place at 24 Hours of Daytona and several other races. He is an instructor at Mid Ohio race track, one of the upper racing schools in the US.

He also lists Isuzu among the companies he has done TV commercial driving for, as well as dealer training.

But of particular interest, two first place finishes in the Alcan 5000 Winter Rally, 1994 and 2000, driving a factory sponsored Isuzu Rodeo.

One must wonder if Dallenbach was involved with the 1991 entries in the PPIHC of the Impulse RS AWD car(s) that were run on the test days and pulled out before the day of the event. But there is no question that he was there to see it.

Many thanks for the update.

JMHO but Pikes Peak is awesome.

Once upon a time when it was televised here I marveled at the trucks going up the mountain.

Cheers
Rob
