And Glen, it seems most of the best photographers post their stuff on sites like Flickr, where although you can view the pics, you can't copy and paste them. But I've been in touch with a chap who's got some real goodies and he's kindly going to E Mail them to me, which I'll post on the forum ASAP.

In the 2013 build up to the Revival it looks like our first race will be as guests of the Vintage Sports Car Club (The VSCC) for their big spring meeting in April.

This is a big, well attended event, with high quality racing...a big stage for your little red racer.

This one shows the Triumph 2000 I had almost a race long battle with....during the first half of the race I noticed he was spitting flames from his exhaust, and this was his downfall as he lost a couple of laps when it ignited during his driver change! Rolie a bit crossed up under braking.

In an effort to close the gap between 3rd and 4th I'm taking Rolie's box and the Sunbeam box (page 20 of this thread) to this lot http://www.hardyengineering.co.uk/ tomorrow. I don't know enough about gearboxes to know what they can or can't do, but I'm hoping they can do something, and just maybe the better ratios in the late Sunbeam box can be used somehow. Fingers crossed.

Hey, Nice pictures and some good racing you have had there.

How strict the car inpectors are about the homologation? afaik, here in Historic Rallying they only count for tooth counts; as long as you have same tooth counts in all gearbox axles as the homologation states, they do not care if you have re-made the gearbox from scratch. (homologation is of course up to racing class years, so if you are running in TC-63, then grp2 homologations and appendixes up to 1963 are valid.)

Sorry being away for a moment, it has been a bit busy time. I Ended up in that online series in 22nd position, while the best KAD Mini driver was in top 5, only 2.7 litre Porsches and 3.4 litre Skylines before him. I did something like 5-7 versions of the car during the season and at least upper party of the block, gearbox, fuel tank and the brakes were upgraded during the season to make it keep up better with competition. Yet I decided to stay on 10" wheels as it is such a big (or should I say small ) part of the being Mini. Even if that would mean eccessive tyre consumption.

Season 2013 is coming, starting about a week before the F1s start in Melbourne... as I am back to organizing, I am proposing the 1971 spec Bellett GT-R as possible car choice, while the series might get rid of group4 cars (the GTs, like 1972 Porsche 911 and Nissan Skyline GT-X). We'll see if anyone picks it up. (I think some Alfa fans might at least try it, as being same style car as the GTA.)

Hi Nap, thanks for your continued interest, and a Happy New Year to everyone on the forum.

Yes the rules for classic racing are fairly strict here, and technically original box ratios must be adhered to..however there was a factory sport kit available which contained some very close ratios, which if enough funds were available, would make for a completely legal and quick gearbox.

But because (in the UK at least) the Bellett is so rare we're being allowed a little 'development time' and consequently we can fiddle around with the box a bit and try and improve it without having to re mortgage the house.

Incidentally your on line racing looks more complicated than the real stuff!

I have no clue how well, or which period of time the track in game represents (someone made the track, it is not part of the original game), but it feels rather fast and it feels a bit like Brand Hatch, but without big height differences and wrong way banked corners.

The car has been in works wayy too long and I am hoping that we could make it finalized soon... It's still occasionally a bit restless, but mainly it is (hopefully) pretty much like the real thing.

The Rolie Report brings news of a significant gain in power. Having recognised the G161 engine's uncanny similarity to the good old Pinto, we just shot one of the US sourced camshafts to a re-profiler and said 'give us a mild race Pinto'.
To our delight, after a re-tune on the rolling road we found we've gained a little over 20% on top of what we had at the Mallory race.

However, we did blow the head gasket, which is a nuisance but not too much of a worry. Just another trip to the rolling road when it's done.

Question.......does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the rather ineffective wiper arms I have, is there a more modern alternative? What do you use on your race car Brett?

The next report may well have news of an invite to a top level international race. Watch this space.

I use it in Darwin during our "wet season".
Yesterday I was driving home and we got 99mm in 1 hour (4 inches) and people were sitting on the side of the road, crying, with their hazard lights on, cause it was pissing down so hard (visibility 10-15m) and I was cruising along 10kmh under the speed limit with no wipers on at all.
It is awesome stuff. It was even used and endorsed by Peter Brock!! (RIP)

I've always used Rainex as a 'back up' to wipers, and never relied on it for 'front line' protection. But you can't argue with it clearing 99mm in an hour.....Jeez, I can't even imagine what that's like.

There is an additional problem though, and that's that some scrutineers can be quite strict on wipers, and won't except that Rainex will do the job alone. So I'd still like to see if I can improve them.

hi pom what about 2 speed deluxe wipers ? farmer or bemboka may have spares for your cause i guess you could get someone to put an intermitten switch on the wipers ?maybee the gemini wiper motor will fit looks like same housings ..all the best davo

theres a brand new tf/tg gemini motor on ebay now item 281061957434 it has a picture but not specs cheers davo i can go and have a look at it if you like i am close to there

It's not so much the motor that concerns me Davo, as that works just fine, it's the strength in the arms themselves. What I'd like really is a more modern arm that just pops onto the spindle.
Anyone done this?

pom i have plenty spare wiper arms mabee if you have the spidle bases you can modify ...you can do it ...let me know if you want them i will post asap cheers davo

I have a Mitsubishi arm here. New. It appears to be similar or same as a Bellett. Possibly better ?
It came with the new spares i got with the Sports.

p/n is MA393221 description on packet is "ARM".

Cheers guys, looks like a little wander around the breakers yard, concentrating on the Mitsubishis. I'll let you know if anything crops up.

Believe it or not, it's that time of the year again, where we trundle off to Goodwood and let the Revival committee have a good look at the car...see page 8 of this topic and you'll remember we had only just got the car running in time, so we didn't blat round the circuit.

This year though, I intend to have a decent shake down, and put on a few hard miles, obviously to test the new cam set up, but also the new front discs and our straightened exhaust system.
We'll also get a sneak preview of the possible opposition.

Hopefully the committee will look upon us favourably, and Rolie's performance will justify this winter's development........watch this space.
