while searching Japan, I have seen quite a few with our '68' style grille in them. Always wonderd if was original. Must have been a transition around 1971 or so. Tail lights seem to vary too, from chrome to matt black. How did you hook up the reversing lights as i don't think there is a switch on the gearbox ? or maybe on later models there is ? Missing engine pictures though ? or holding them for the nats ? ...nice new shed and concrete area too. |

Geoff, Mildred looks absolutely brilliant! Those rear light chrome surrounds have quelled the " legoland" look. Has Greg got those fender mirror blanking plugs from Import Monster yet? I'm off to Motacarb, Nerang on Thursday to balance my carbs ( with me protein) and Run up the new engine on their dyno. Cheers, Lewis |

Hi Guys, Thanks for the coments, this car has been a fairly easy build, unlike Isabell, who fought all the way, The car spent a lot of time at the paint shop and was put on the back burner, by them, all the time, When I got it back I was not happy especialy with the bonnet, had a heap of bubbles and turned out to be rust, so I had it soda blasted, was away for a further 3 weeks and then repaired and repainted, another couple of weeks. Has been in Australia since last nationals at Coona, and has only done 4 k's since it arived, We got it going the other day after replacing timming chain and tentioner, and was running ok, then started to run like a bag of sh.t, Greg came over today and she got the lot, new coil condenser, points, plugs and leads, had a fiddle with the timming and test run up the motorway to Coolum and all is great, Very nice car to drive. looking forward to Sunday, when we are going to take it for a shake down for the trip south, Greg is taking Old Yella and think Allan and Trish are also going with their Bellett wich has also just had a rebuild. Cheers and Beers Geoff |

Great to see Mildred, sorry I won't be able to check the back end out this weekend on the shakedown cruise. Playing with my rear wheel cylinders, getting ready for a longer trip , hope to be able to lay under the back end at some stage, job well done Geoff love the colour and the number plates I thought of GT1600 but went for the GTG161. see you soon,Gerry.
