But not what you think...

Last year when I was putting the calendar together Brett sent me some pics of the Pat Crea racing Bellett. At the time the name sounded familiar but it didn't quite click.

I was scanning some old colour slides to day when I found the following. A Pat Crea Falcon Sports Sedan. This was taken at Calder in the paddock in 1972

It's headlights are stickers! (Like Lighning McQueen - love that movie!)
Would be a very different tool to the Bellett, I'd warrant! Quicker(?) - till you come to a corner!
Thanks for shareing - good history link.
Matt.

Matt,

Back then there were 3 main classes of Tin Tops; Series Production (basically stock), Improved Production (hotted up - the Touring car championship class) and Sports Sedans which was "run what ya brung"! Highly modified sedans, frequently with radical engine swaps. You're probably familiar with Brock's Holden engined Austin A30; I also remember a Hillman Imp with a 289 Windsor V8 installed in the back and a VW fastback with a Chev motor.

Pat Crea's would probably have had a hot Cleveland 351 and would have had lot's of fibreglass and other lightweight tricks. One of my mates had an XB Falcon coupe (road car) with a hot Clevo and it was an absolute blur. I can only imagine what a lightweight would be like with one.

Vic
