Here is a pic. of my 1964 Prince Super Miler which I am currently restoring/preserving in its "working clothes".
Specs. - 30 cwt commercial truck/ute (1.5 tonne)
4 cylinder petrol motor,4 speed g/box and Limited Slip Diff.(unusual in that era especially for a commercial vehicle) the diff. is originally orange in colour (as in the Prince Skyline GT ) to signify that it is the LSD version.
There were only about 140 of them sold in Australia in the mid 60"s and I know of only 3 survivors (I would love to hear of any others)

Now that is a sweet little truck.
Very similar to my old mans 69' Nissan Junior 2 tonner.
I luv to see these little trucks still breathing life into the comercial vehicle world.
Best of luck finding more of them or info on.

Nice job on a very rare little truck, mate. About 140 sold, well I believe there were only 122 Wasps sold, so it makes sense there are more about. In fact, a mate was fishing for spares a few months ago at a wreckers, and he said they had some unusual trucks, including a prince. Next time I see him (soon) I'll get some details. I've been wanting an excuse to go for a drive & have a wander through.
Thanks for sharing.
Matt.

Craig - Thanks for the info. but I am a memeber of the Prince Register and I know Noel. Prince commercial vehicles are thin on the ground but I believe that there must still be a few in whatever condition laying under trees.I would like a Prince Clipper (cab over engine) but I have never seen one.
Matt - Thanks for the interest and I would appreciate anything that you might be able to turn up.I am short of a front bumper and 4 hub caps..

Hello again, Kerry. I've spoken to my mate, Gary, who put me onto the wrecker. I gave him a call and he said he has got a Prince. Its only about 100 k's away, so I'll go for a drive, probably tuesday and see what I can find.
Watch this space.....

See, you never know what you might turn up 'till you post it on Bellett net. Nice day for a drive & a wander 'round a wrecking yard, & what turns up? 1 Super Clipper cabover - and it's a tub back
O.K., it's a little pummelled, but it's mostly there - glass, badges, seat frame, motor, gearbox, diff - even the factory toolbox, mounted under the tray. All I noticed missing was the speedo, driver's headlight ring, the wheels (6 stud), and both front stub axles (oxyed-off for a trailer). It's a beam axle, though, and the steering gear is intact, so should be able to be substituted.
It's a column manual with the shifter on the right-hand side of the wheel! Driver's door shuts o.k., but passenger one doesn't quite - lower hinge must be pushed back slightly. The only rust I found is around that hinge. Floors sound, even the tub (what I could see - lotsa junk).
Some photos - more to follow in next post.

Post subject:  Re: 1964 Prince Super Miler Restoration

Here are some detail photos.
The guy (Ken) says he doesnt want to sell it - for money, but he would swap it away for "something interesting". It seems he doesn't want to reduce the size of "his collection" of interesting stuff. The prince is in his truck wrecking yard in town, his "collection" is on his farm, and would run into many hundreds of items - from stationry engines to tractors to trucks to Katos - even a scraper and train carriages mounted on prime movers! From the road I estimate 10 to 15 acres worth! He may be a little eccentric
So I ask him "what would you like?" He says "just get him to let me know what he's got that he'd be happy to swap & I'll think about it. I'm looking for more stationry engines, but tractors, anything"."I don't love it" (the prince). Not particularly into Japanese, I don't think.
Matt.

Wow... That is in bad shape but still saveable and what a cool thing to have!

Guaranteed no one else would have one at a Prince club meet!

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Cheers,
Ross.

KJB, I guess you know of the car (and the article?) in the old Japanese Restorer magazine? I believe it went back to Japan. If you'd like a copy of the article I'd be happy to scan it.

Cool Clipper too...a little hard to quantify 'interesting' for a deal though!

Cheers,
Duane

Duane,
I did organise something interesting and the Super Clipper is now in my "collection".
Also have added a 1964 Toyota (Toyopet) 25 truck. (approx. 1 tonne,4 cylinder,c/over engine )- forunner to the Dyna. And recently a 1964 Toyota 700 (Publica) sedan (2 door ,4 seats,700cc, aircooled,2 cylinder ,2 speed Toyoglide).Hopefully arriving late January.

Wow, congrats! That's a great collection. I have a Toyopet 25 brochure around somewhere. There is also a complete (and reasonable looking) UP10 in a wrecking yard North of Adelaide too...a real shame it's there, as the owner's mad (he runs a wrecking yard, oxymoron really) and sure to want a fortune for it. However, if you need any parts, he may be a good source.

Make sure you join the Toyota 700 and 800 Sport group on Yahoo Groups, the guys there dig up plenty of repro and NOS parts, plus are a fantastic source of advice. I trawl there too.

Cheers,
Duane

You are an "eagle eye" too!
Would love to see the Toyota 25 brochure. Thats what I was after and ended up with the real deal.

No probs KB, drop me a line at ddegruchy@picknowl.com.au if you like, I will scan the brochure and email it back to you. I wish my brochures would turn into the real deal, although parking might be an issue.
