1969 Unicab, worthed or not?

My friend gave me an information about this 1969 Unicab.
I still thinking for buying it or not. The owner want US$ 1.000 for this.
It's probably the KR85 with G151.
Engine is not running, the carburetor is gone.
Still have to check it, maybe next week.

Is it worth to build?
I don't have many literature for it, can someone help me?
I recognize that I have to search for pair of front mirror, front sign lamps and horn button. Front seats also looks different.

if that was here in Australia i would try to get it!
Im sure there are some pics of one of these in the brochure section, and if you cant get the correct lights/mirrors etc if you get something close i am sure that no one would hold it against you.
I would say yes its worth saving just due to the fact that there are stuff all of these around that i know of.

hi andy just trawled the nett try ebay type in 1969 isuzu unicab and there is a picture of the vehicle also try google and type the same again and it will give you details etc of the mean machine i think its www.aotomobile-catalog/com cheers and all the best a carby if they are the same as the bellett im sure any club member will have one for you cheers and good luck with the purchase ..davo

Thanks for the input. I've seen some Unicabs in Indonesia, some of them are still running. But I really in love with this one.

I'll try to search about G151 engine in this site. I'm pretty sure if the engine will need some works.

Pretty rare find. There are only a couple known here in Australia. If you are up to a project, it all looks fairly complete. Possibly some Bellett parts are interchangeable.

Another Unicab that I found on my way to the office. The place is nearer than the blue one.

I've talk to the owner and take some photos. It's probably the early generation (1967-1968) with G130 engine.

The previous owner has change the soft door with hard panel door and paint it, but not in a good condition.

The recent owner said that he will keep the Unicab and try to restore it. I promise him to share many information to do the restoration.

I've seen several Unicab's, is this vehicle doesn't have parking-brake? Is it also happened with Wasp?

All Wasps have a handbrake lever. Lever is mounted on floor, for righthand drive vehicles, beside drivers seat
and drivers door. I imagine lefthand drive is opposite. Similar to bench seat sedans.
Have a look at your third photo on Mon 03 Aug. The lever is supporting from what I can discern, the ignition switch.
Years ago, back in the late sixties we had beach buggies. Hand brakes were not a top priority. If it didn't work, or
wasn't connected, a large piece of timber with a rope attached was the wheel chock. Most times the buggy was left
on a incline when we parked it up. The battery only had enough juice for the ignition, turn key on, pull rope with
wood chock, push buggy to get started. Drop clutch ,and away we would go.
Just had a brainstorm.
Thanks UBS. I might go through all my box brownie type photos of the buggies and post
it in another thread.

Sorry ubs. Should be Mon Aug 01. Just in front of bird cage.Also have a look at your first post. Pics 6 & 7. Black rectangular shape just underthe gauge under dash. Is that it??? Or possibly removed??.

reckon you are right hand brake is next to the chicken cage its underneath that red wiring ..the wiring was for the electric brakes fitted which have since been removed ...........to slow the car daown you throw out a chicken and he flaps his wings to slow you down cheers davo.........anyone in aussie got one of these ...bemboka ????

on the handbrake question...
as CQGT said, a RHD Wasp has it on the floor between the drivers seat and the door.
a LHD unit has it on the opposite to this.
the "T" handle mentioned that is sticking out from under the dash, near the gearstick, looks like an "umbrella" style handbrake to me also.

The handbrake on *cough* the one I've seen is on the right-hand-side between the driver and the side of the car. I did not say 'door', as there's no door on a Unicab.

At least, that's what I thought until I saw ubs_lover's post again.

The first one he looked at; the blue one... HAS DOORS.

I have no less than three brochures of the Unicab as well as other literature that features them (full range brochures, etc) and I can't say I've seen one with doors.

The one I've seen in the metal certainly doesn't have them....

Could I suggest the creamy coloured one is a later model? The motor shot looks to show G130 0n the block, but it has a later more Gemini looking carbie. It also has the Florian-like '68/'69 oil separator. Could that be a Florian style umbrella handbrake.
So many variations for such a rare car, but maybe they were more common in Asia once?

At first I want to keep that blue Unicab for myself untill I can get money to restorate it. But then I found someone, in my opinion, who able to restore it with more than enough cash than me. I share him the information and soon he picked up that unicab.

It seems like every Unicab I ever saw in Indonesia has been modified with metal door.

That blue unicab had more original parts than the creamy one. That creamy also seems to had so many modification, like doors, seats engine parts and hand-brake. Yes, the handbrake is that lever near the birdcage. :D

Creamy owner said that I can picked up the car once I'm in Jakarta, we still not talk about price, but I hope is around 500USD.

I still searching for another Unicab. Probably the one with G150.

Or I should pick this creamy with G130?

Are G130 and G150 came in one periode?

Well, it has a "umbrella'' handbrake lever. No chicken cage with chooks for 'emergency'.
Nice rig. Shame to get it dirty. I would allow a bit of time for the paint to cure. Hate to
take it down to the beach. Honda or Yammy blinkers don't make it look out of place.
Yep. A real tidy unit. Reminds me of the Suzuki Jimny 2 stroke back in -looooong time
ago.Let's say- The predecessor of my Grand Vitara. The ISUZUKI that went to Corowa.
