My son had one of those situations where on his way to work early one morning recently he had a sudden situation, hit the dog or try to avoid it, unfortunalty we were to find later that there was no brake shoe material left on the left rear and not much more on the right rear, and when he applied the brakes, the right rear locked spinning the car sideways up a gutter and into a street post. he was not hurt, but the '75 coupe that i bought in 1979 and has been in the family since copped its first blow. Fortunality the damage was repairable, this has been done and it is back on the road, attached are some photos,

If those are before and after pictures, that's pretty impressive work.

I'm glad it lives!

Of course, when I smacked my Mum's 1978 RWD 323 wagon into a gutter when I was 17 smashing the front suspension, steering and rear axle, I told her a cat ran out, but now she's 1) not internet savvy and 2) dead, I can safely say that there was no cat!

I wonder if there was a dog!

Nah I'm sure your lad is telling the truth. At the time, I would have given my right arm for a Gemini instead of driving the 323, but now that I've mellowed, while I'd prefer the Gemmi any day of the week, the 323 is starting to become a classic in it's own right! Just as slow classic.....

Cheers for the pics - good work! The general insurance concensis (sp>) would have been that that's a write off, but as I say to people with old cars, "they don't make 'em any more!" and that makes them worth saving where possible.

Ouch - nasty ding, mate. I'm glad pearcejnr was o.k. Nice work with the fixup - they ARE worth saving, especially with that long history. My brother-in-law had a dog situation when he was young resulting in a written-off family car & 3 badly damaged parked ones. Not happy, Jan! Nail the dog, I say! (How heartless!!)
Ya can't help bad luck.
Thanks for showing.
Matt.
