Is this gt spring likely to nearly kill me if I unhook the end and how would I get it back on.

I guess the answer to your first question is no

Is that the reclining seat spring ?

Springs are a pain in the arse but they will go back with patience

I cant tell you the answer to the second part of your question but I am sure someone on here can

Any more pictures of your wonderful rebuild?

Now theres something I've never tried. It does look pretty tight and would probably be pretty hard to get back in place.
I reckon I'd hold the whole thing securely in a vice or super jaws, then use long nose vice grips to check the tension. If its too strong, maybe take it to an engineering shop.
