Hi there can anyone provide me with the part number or good alternative for the brake light switch please?
I need to replace mine and I want to stay original, so I do not wish to change the set up.
My current switch has died and I will need it fixed before July/

Please poist here or PM me??
Dave M (1968gt).

Thank you, that is exactly what I wanted, a part number, I will try again.
Did you havr any trouble removing the faulty part? I am having difficulty getting faulty switch from the little 4 way brass block?

They just unscrew maybe vise grips just support the t piece or you may kink a line if it turns.

In think it might be a case of cutting it off and using an easy out drill bit, it is very tight??
I have soaked the spare I have in WD40, still wont budge, I will keep trying.
Thanks again.

Picking up the brake light switch in the morning, a spare also, just in case of another failure, as this one is the second time!
Thank you for your assistance, thank you to Bellett.net also!!!

Hi Dave,
The switch generally seems to weld itself into the brass union. I usually swap the assembly.
If you need a union with switch removed I have one I can mail you.

Cheers mate,
Matt.

Matt,
You are a great Mate, thank you. I did find a union however and I hagve a new switch installed, all I have to do is now fit it and then bleed the brakes, a pain in the back side job!!
Thank you again.

No worries mate, glad you're sorted. Surely Marg will push the pedal for you??

I know what you mean, Brake fluid! Stinky stuff. And it doesn't seem to matter what I do, it always gets all up my arms! :( I've just re-kitted the wheel cylinders on 'Julius' (Roman Red). Glad thats done.

Cheers, Matt.

Hey Matt,
I now have a leak at the union under the brake light switch, I will see how I go trying to fix it, if it ends up cracked or thread stripped somehow I might take you up on the union offer if you still have the spare please? ;)
I have tried to tighten it up a tiny bit more to see if the leak stops, same deal you get a bit worried about stripping the thread doing it up too tight, then when it is not tight enough the damed thing leaks, catch 22 eh!!!

Yeah, its a fine line. :?

What if I send it anyway, then if theres a crack or something, you'll have it in your hand.
Can't remember your address though, you might have to send it to me.

Cheers, Matt.
