Howdy :) Just asking if anyone knows the part number, availability, how to get, or has a spare for sale of a G161 SOHV manifold gasket. I seem to recall there was discussion about this somewhere on Bellett.net, but I have trawled around for a while and can't seem to find it. Any advice appreciated.

GT is starting to make valve tapping noise at idle and is sounding extra rowdy under acceleration. haven't diagnosed properly yet but me thinks could be a hole in the manifold gasket near the outlet of no. 4 cylinder or a little hole in the extractor getting slowly bigger. BUGGER.

GT Orphanage had some made, don't know if he has any available, He will be pretty busy for the next week or so with work, so don't know if he will be on here much in that time.

cheers Geoff

Thanks Glenn, might come to this. I've just run a 12mm over all 8 bolts. A miricale i could evden get anything 12mm in there. Some were 1/4 to 1/2 turn loose, especially aruond outlet 3 and 4 where the valve tick was coming from  :? :o . When I started it the valve tick was mare pronouced and the engine more rowdy than usual, and initially smelt like burnt gasket. I'm about 90 something % certain it's the manifold gasket :(

If anyone from South Oz has a s/h or spare, i will gladly go to a gasket manufacturer to get one or more made. Depends who wants one, price for how many, and if i can convince the good lady accountant in our household. ;)

Oh, and there is mixed information about running the GT like this. Some say don't, as it will burn out a valve. And others say it doesn't matter much...that's if you can put up with it :?: :geek: :!: Info please.

Hey thanks Guys. That is great news. Meanwhile I've googled a place in Melrose Park who are gasket manufacturers. The plan would be to borrow yours as a template Flying, and have a few made. Let me know :D

I was reading an earlier thread Brett commented about manifold gaskets. Yes, they are all slightly different, round versus square ports, stud pattern etc... Is the PR90 the same as the PR91??

Wow Claws, that's progress mate. The green machine not so far off being started and running. Would love to be there when you fire up.

I will contact them as soon as I can. I will get 6 for myself, once confirmed I will take orders as I need at least 10.
Once I confirm we can print them this will be the last time I will sell them as last time I had a stash for my own use but people needed them I am down to my last 2 and 1 is spoken for.

Thanks for following up Mr. Orph. Another 1 for me please. If not possible, then i can take one to "Industrial Gaskets" in Melrose Park, Adelaide, for replication. I phoned to ask what they do yesterday. :o :o ANY gasket for ANYTHING if you have a template or S/h in reasonable condition, and will do one off's. Haven't asked for pricing yet, but can't be too bad with latest technology to make them.

Back to the original thread, I got a second opinion about the loud tappetting noise from none other than proffessor OZ yesterday. Just that we believe, and not a manifold leak   . Thanks OZ for spending the time and almost an hour went by talking Belletts and stuff out the front yard :) shame i had to push on, mate.

So it's time for some gap adjustments instead. All other vital signs as should be and runs like a wild dog

Cheers, B.

Hi all,
Just want to let you know I have manifold gaskets of all types of engines, original metal ones, price for 1 piece is 45 euro and I can do 35 a piece for 10.
Dont know what you have to spend for a remake, but this quality might be better.
groetjes Dick

Hi Gt Orph,
I would be interested in some too. The price would dictate the quantity.
Thanks
