I'd be up for a complete set of bushes at least, haven't checked out my tie rod ends as yet.

I have just spoken to Keith about the Hilman bushes. He has no corresponding parts listed for the Bellett. So If anyone has any stashed away in the back of the shed that they could take measurements from, we could compare them, otherwise its just try it and see. I am tempted to order them anyway, but I wouldn't get to try them straight away.

BUGGER !!! I have an upper arm here with only one bush in it, which is kinda good for measuring. Unfortunately the Hillman bush has a diameter (at the sleeve) of 29mm, and the Bellett one is a whisker under 32mm. The Hillman bush is also slightly shorter than the Bellett one. If desperate, a sleeve could probably be made to make it fit, but probably easier solutions exist. I still don't know about the lower arm bushes, but can only assume a slight difference would exist there too.
Back to the drawing board.

Funny you should mention a Mustang. Some of the guys here at work keep asking me why I don't sell "those silly little things" and buy a nice Mustang or something. Funny thing is, it would be easy to sell the Bellett and Wasps, and easy to buy a Mustang...... But try to do it the other way around.....Not so easy. So I think I'll keep my "silly little " cars, that are different from the every day, but fun to drive every day. Keep them...Use them and enjoy them !

im sure one of us will come up with a usable solution for these bushes soon!
me id have a mustang, but I would give it to the wife for a daily driver..... Ill keep the bellett and florian!

didn't somebody up nth find a bush that only needed minor mods to fit the upper arms ?

Pedders is not the easiest to get to from here. I have an upper arm here with only one bush in it, so I might drop that to Bursons, and see what they come up with. They did a good job finding me a fuel filter last week, so it's worth a shot. However, if anyone has any Pedders part numbers, I can phone them and check that out too.

I have had a great morning. I took my spare upper control arm to Bursons, who spent quite a bit of time checking bush sizes on data bases. We were even looking at what we could modify to make work. Then as a last resort rings another one of their suppliers/manufacturers, who had the best news yet. If I send them a control arm, with bushes in place, they will take all the necessary measurements (exact measurements ) and remanufacture a bush to suit. I expect that it would be a nolathane type bush instead of rubber, but that's fine with me. Until they have the arms they cant give me a quote, but as per normal, the more made the lower the individual cost. I will be taking out my lower control arms and rear arms too and sending them off as soon as I can. If anyone is interested in any new bushes please let me know.

Definitely interested, my rear bushes in particular are shagged. However, nolathane, are we asking for trouble? When I had my Stude a lot of guys were converted their Studebaker's with nolathane kits, only to face rebuilds when the hard bushes pushed the stress to the components instead...I guess there's a risk with anything.

There is always that possibility. I am open to any other suggestions. I didn't get to talk directly with manufacturer, but am guessing it would be the most likely material used these days.

there are several different duros of nolathane/urethane etc. There used to be 3 different ones just for hq front lower arms, soft, hard and race only.
