hello I'm new to the forum and have a problem I hope someone can help me with ! I need a brake master cylinder because my can not be repaird and then I wonder where you buy yours ?? Here in Sweden it's impossible to get replacement parts, bought some from Finland but there it's also bad. excuse my bad english!! and a picture on one of our cars it is a 66 looking forward to replies

We either have them rebuilt with a stainless steel sleeve and internals, or fit an aftermarket one. Belletts have a 3/4 bore size master. Hydraulic trailer brakes usually have this size, and the master they use is an almost bolt on change, so that's a common change. They are cheap to buy too.

Strange about that, I bought one a few years ago as it was a lot cheaper than having the original re-sleeved and re-kitted. it went on easily but the brakes would not release, jus t kept on getting more stopping power with every push on the pedal to the extent that I had to limp home in first gear as it wouldn't pull in any other, I had veeeerryy hot drums as well. I swapped back to the old original and had no problems. Mind you I am also using a brake booster and I think the two weren't compatible so be wary of this if you are using an after market master cylinder. Has anyone else found this problem?

I should check with Dick. thanks for the tip about aftermarket cylinders! Thank you! what is a roman? But it is not this car a have problem with the brakes this works very well Still curious where to buy aftermarket cylinder ... The sad thing is there are only about 15 cars left in Sweden so there is never anyone how know what kind of car it is!

A "Roman" is the name of the colour = Roman Red Davo is right, that roof rack is sensational, looks just like the one I had on my old 58 VW Beetle years ago

Ohh okay the color ... yes I think it is called deluxe 3 ?? with chrome trim and tinted windows all round. You are right the roof rack comes from a 50-60s volksvagen which I modified a bit and make it fit . As you can see in the background we mostly screws with old Volkswagens.

Hi Re Brake pump up Funny that as Asroc is in shop today with a seized calliper And before you say .... It took 2 guys to release it ..... Not that I am a wimp What you are describing sounds like the actuating rod of the aftermarket brake cylinder is too long When you release the pedal it does now retract enough to uncover the release port Hence the pump up effect If you shortened the rod to the pedal it should work By the way if you install a cylinder with a bigger piston it won't stop unless you use both feet and Arnie Schwarzenegger legs Cheers James

Hi Geoff EBay Heaps of em under 'trailer 3/4 master cylinder' but I recommend re-sleeving original !!!!!!! Any decent Brake shop will do it If In Tas ..... 'Tas Brakes' did mine James

I agree James, we had our done in Brisy, and I would think not a problem having them done in Sweedan, freight is the killer in overseas buying.
My sedan has a dual cylinder fitted, with power assist to front , not sure what it is off ,would say Nissan or Mazda. Works a treat.
How did you go with the head?

3 of my 6 cars use a PBR 3/4 master. u can pick them up for under $50 brand new. they need a bit of fiddling to fit, but definitely nothing silly.
2 cars are boosted, they being the Wasp with modified brakes all round, and the other being the GT which is standard after the master. the unboosted 1 is a sedan with drums.
I use the standard Bellett pushrod on them as it fits straight in, and never had a prob. in fact, I reckon they work better than a standard one, especially on an unboosted system. as said, the pushrod a PBR master comes with is slightly longer so it wont release properly.
the race car is nothing like standard anywhere in its braking system with master, bias, lines, hoses, calipers, rotors, the lot all different to everything else, so details of that don't matter here. 1 is an all standard sedan with boosted drums that will get discs soon. and the last 1 is undecided, but will probably get a PBR 3/4 and will only have rear brakes anyway..... but won't use them.
