Hi Guys, Has anyone fitted a 7" wide wheel on a Bellett, and if so what offset was used ? Thanks

Hi I am running a set of Advanti 15 x 7 with offset I think 38mm. 15 x 195 x 50 series low profile tyres Require 'X' factor to clear calliper if running disc brakes. Down side for mainlanders is I 'fine tune' with 5mm spacer on the rear Cheers J

Hi Glenn with old fashioned mags for eg Datsun, Mitsubishi, Gemini from 70s-80's the inside of the mag is flush or flat usually. With modern cars with huge disc brakes the central hub is recessed back in relation to the caliper so they tend to 'scollop' the face of the mag to bolt up against the hub / rotor while giving clearance for the calliper. The degree of Scolloping is referred to as 'X-Factor' Cheers J

You got me there The Wheel man was sick of me by then asking all the questions, scratching his head wondering why I was bothering for such an old car They just don't understand Here is a picture of the rear and how well Asroc's wheels fill the guards For the record a mag wheel with with tyre on is usually 1 inch larger so 7" mags actualy equate to 8" with tyres so Asroc has 8" sqeezed under her guards Sweeeeet Cheer J

Thanks James. I would be interested in a picture of how the front sits in the guards ( front on ) as the +38 should narrow the track I would have thought. but I guess the extra width helps in this regard. As for the rear, by running a 5mm spacer ( which as you point out we can't do up here ), that would make it a +33 in effect. All of this is good news as it does make my search for wheels a little easier. Do you get any tyre rubbing on the rear at all ? I am actually looking at a 7" wide wheel that can be between +25 and +44 offset, drilled and machined to suit, but I need to tell them what to machine it to.
As for your question Glenn, the X-Factor is theoretical figure of no distinct value. As James said it is a term used by the wheel manufacturers in reference to the contour of the spoke. Thanks

Your deductions are absolutely spot on My front hubs have custom Volvo calipers and an effective machined spacing of approx 18mm out from standard so this would equate to approx offset of 20mm. This is in keeping with Performance Supalites which are popular mags and run an offset of 18-24mm I think Rear on Asroc 38-5mm=33mm but 15 inch is quite different to 14 inch mags in relation to clearance in rear guard I am running 14 x 6.5 mags on rear of Bella with offset 18mm I think So all said and done looks like 18-20mm +ve offset may be the magic figure for mags? Best ask Toomanybelletts - Craig is the man in the know

James I am glad that I probed a little further, before getting wheels machined off your first reply. Could have been very expensive.
I guess the positive thing is that they fit the rear, which I assume is relatively standard ??!! No Jag rear end under there ?

Yep Rear standard and yes the 15's I have pictured definitely fit well with 5mm spacers Bellett's have very strong diffs and 1/2 shafts and nice big drums so no need to butcher My theory is, fit the rear and the front will follow The upright does have a taper though so stick your head under and take a look Mags may roll nice forwards but try and turn and 'oh dear' which is why 14 inch is different to 15 inch Cheers J

I've had a pair of original sedan rims widened to 7 inch for the rear of Donkey Had them made with +29 offset and running 205 60 13 tyre, Perfect fit
If I remember, next time I'm up my brothers place I'll get them out of my shipping container and put them on a car and take a picture for you.

Here are the Magnum Dominators that I purchases specifically for 2014 Nationals 14 x 6 with offset of 20mm Interestingly had to special order 175 x 60 x 14 tyres as 185 x 60 x 14 scrubbed big time Cheers J
