Ok Guys
Now please refrain from laughing but.....
Has anyone got serviceable GT brake Pistons that they are willing to part with
Out of 9 I scrummaged so far only 1 is useable
So I need 3...
Also need a set of dust boots as per photo
Can anyone help

Hi James,
Not sure about the rubber boot, but I would think a good machine shop could spin up some new pistons for you.

Give my mate Glen Hunt a call 3889 6669 (is his work number, Stainless Steel Sleeving, Brendale, QLD)
He should be able to point you in the right direction, may posiblely machine up himself.

BHSS in Brisbane some they made the first set they machined and chromed them. So you have options.

pr95's jag ones have no pin and seem to have no il effect. They were done by a professional brake repairer.

Spent the morning on the phone and ended up visiting local brake, clutch, machine / fabrication shop
Left them a sacrificial piston to de-construct and estimate cost of fabricating with central shaft in stainless
Will let you know if doesn't cost one's 1st born

In the past, I had a number of these pistons re hard chromed and then machined. Unfortunately, the guy who did them passed away but there must be some body who can do them.

As for the rubber seals. I might still have a NOS kit here. Problem is finding it at the moment, since we moved house, nothing car wise has been unpacked.

BGT brakes in Dandenong, Vic. can overhaul the calipers. (03) 9792 2806) Ain't cheap, about $500/pr i think it was. Or maybe $250 pair, I can't recall now. Call them...... they know Belletts. Most of BCCV go there. Pretty sure they use Jag stuff in them. They look like brand new when you get them back.

No problem with Calipers
It's all about the Pistons
Apparently because the seals are seated in the Calipers and not the Pistons means the Pistons are sacraficial

BGT overhaul the whole thing.

I imagine water in the fluid is the final enemy of the pistons as they start to corrode the hard-chrome.

All of the pistons i got re-done were usable. The guy ground them back to base metal, hard chromed them and then re-machined back to size. I organised about 6 sets i think at the time for BCCV members.

Brakes still good to Glenn, no misting around the calipers, no leaks and disc's are fine, all thoroughly checked before Toowoomba .

They will take a look
If pitting not to bad may be able to help]
They do some weird and wonderful treatments on all sorts of parts for Tassie Targa cars including Jason White's Lambo.........

Spoke to Todd at Ceramic Coatings Tasmania this morning.
He is confident he can coat a set of Brake pistons with this space aged NASA product.
He has a coating for everything.......
Opens up a whole new world especially to those 'Boy Racers' amongst us

called into better brakes southport to see how my front brake arrangement was going he has it all apart and is also coating the pistons or whatever said he will fit some other valiant or whatever bits to it hes confident will let you know the outcome cheers davo the guy at better brakes is wayne number is 07 55710271 or 0400006340

I may have said this before but the thing about Bellett Brake pistons (which they did indeed pinch the design from Jaguar - Dunlop) is the central pin
Apparently its function is to limit movement or 'knock-off' of the piston/pads when you take your foot off the brake thereby reducing pedal travel
This is the main reason I am trying to resurrect the existing pistons rather than finding different pistons and machining them to fit

Well have some information

The front pistons are off the Jaguar 420G saloon built from 1966-1968... small run which makes then rare in itself

Calliper Rubber Kit : Girling SP2565
Brake Pads Bellett : DB704 (No longer available - save your backing plates and have them re-bonded)

Just picked up the pistons from the Ceramic Coaters

3 are definitely useable, 4th touch and go as likely to 'seep' which may be OK on weekend driver but not daily driver so I will give it a go.......

Interim step to Sleeving if pitting minimal at about 1/3 cost........
