Colour of plate on base of GT sump

Just wondering if a couple of people could confirm if the cover that bolts onto the botom of sump of GT is supposed to be gloss black.

When I started work on my PR90 resto in 1991 the original paint on my G161 sump was thin and scratched but a glass finish,. So I stripped it primed it, then applied gloss black engine enamel.
