After a couple of months of Sundays, a lot of polishing and some plating, I have finally refurbished all those engine bay carbie linkages we all want to do but cant get around to it. Here is my interpretation of how the SU carbies and attachments would have looked out of the factory except the yellow cadmium plating has now been replaced with zinc dichromate. Cheers, Lewis

Well done lewis. It's great to see it go to the next level but how are we to catch up if you move to a higher standard all the time.

Ha Ha Oz, They are actually the original copper washers off the banjo fittings. Could not get a proper seal with new copper or aluminium ones so I ended up using those old ones

Really nice job Lewis. Pity to cover them with air cleaners !
When i did the same plating on my (Daves) GT, i was initially inspired by Barry M. who did his in early 90's. You have upped the ante though with the polished brass also.
I think though that the parts were originally just zinc plated, not the 'gold' finish. For the bonnet catch etc, for surem although for the carb parts, can't be certain.

Lewis,
While your making those GT keyrings etc. You'll haveto make a little plaque that reads. ' When viewing the engine bay of this vehicle. We must advise the viewer that the wearing of sunglasses must be adherred too at all times'.
Fantastic job. I've always said. Time and patience. If you can't put in the time. You haven't the patience.
Dave.

Nice!
Engine Bay Jewelry - Polishing is a great rewarding job for the time and effort you put into it.

My, my. That has to be better than new! And Tracy reckons I'm going overboard if I hit mine with the Gerni! Ya gotta have a hobby. Going home to wash the Florian.................... Top effort, Matt.

one thing to be wary of when doing this, the platers take no responsibilty for losing things.
If it drops into the bath, it's gone. I pre-wired all my parts together with copper wire before giving it to the platers.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Hey Geoff, I managed to source a left hand front quarter window rubber from Japan. It has a pointy front on it which I could modify to a round shape or swap with one of yours.
