Just wondering if there is any difference in the std cam shafts between the 3 bearing motor and the 5 bearing??
And is the cam in the 1500 the same as the GT 1600??

Hi Sticky.
This is 1 of the mods Isuzu had done when they went from 3 brg. mains to 5 brg.
They changed the profile of the cam lobe to get better economy and from 6 brg. to 5.
Isuzu brought out a supplement to the engine manual explaining the difference.
The cams on all the engines are different. ie. 3 & 5 and cc rating. My parts books give me 4
different part numbers.

Dave.

Hi Stickman,
Like the Crankshafts, the Cams are not interchangeable between early model 3 bearing and later 5 bearing engines.
Different number of Cam bearings between the 2 camshafts.

Later 5 bearing 1500 and 1600GT OK however

Cheers
J

3 bearing GT and sedan had the same cam.
5 bearing GT had the same profile as the 3 bearing.
5 bearing sedan was a tamer profile for economy.

Sorry to mention it is a 1300 and 1500 cam ( 1968 - 1975). The GT cam is numbered 12510-058. This cam has a little plug at the gearbox side in it ....
