Hi J. The number for the seal is. 17446 in Flaseal. P4768 Repco/PBR. Now. This the tricky bit. From what I've found the 2 Companys either don't exist and/or are no longer being manufactured. The bearing company may be able to crossover the numbers to a seal of another brand. I sent my GT diff to a specialist in Brisbane and they sourced all 3 seals from their local bearing comany. They had a sample seal and supplied the dimensions of the housing and the pinion drive flange to them. Procuring them was not a problem. Getting the side carrier bearings was. If you have a slight groove on the pinion drive flange. Enquire about a speedysleeve and purchase some 2 pack araldite to glue it onto tne flange. If they haven't got the parts they may be able to buy them in from another branch and you pay for the freight. Sometimes they can add to an order and you may have to wait a while and not pay the freight. If the seal is either 1 mm under or 2mm over in thickness. Don't dispair. As long as the seal runs on the flange, which it should do, as the seal sits in the housing and has no bearing on the tension or freeplay. Keep us informed. No doubt you will. Happy hunting. Dave. |

Luckily the brake shop and driveline shop are neighbours Cheers J |

No probs. J. We see this at work quiet often. We had a young fellow advised by his "backyard mechanic" that he would put a new seal onto the rear main crankshaft of his diesel engine but will need an extra thick gasket to have the seal run on a good surface. This particular seal is mounted in a large bracket and doesn't have a gasket, only sealant. There were some swear words said that I've got in my black book. I agree. Good invention. Dave. |

J. When you start on your brakes keep us posted. I know a couple of 'tips & traps'. Especially on the rears. A 6 foot chain wire fence is a good hand brake. Dave. |
