Does a Sport Bellett, 2 or 4 door, have a GT type short lever gearbox shifter as standard??

Thanks Dick. I saw a 'sport' sedan on the web and it had the long stick so was wondering if it was a 'real' sport. It had SOHC engine, and all the GT gauges inside.

that's a Sport Glenn.
had the full GT dash, but a different style heater control panel with the clock to the left of the controls.
it also had the radio mounted under that on the same panel.
was done this way because as Dick said, they had a normal sedan gear stick.
and yep, was basically GT running gear underneath, twin carbs, discs and all.

link is to a 66 sport brochure.
even tho there's a few differences between the one u have posted pics of and this one, the basic idea is the same.
scroll down and u'll see the dash layout, gearstick and carb, disc and the rest specs.

i have a 69-70 sport brochure here that i'll get around to posting on bellett.net one day....
along with the 100 others!

hi Glen, I think you will find that is a short bonnet model as has the late GT wheel and also the double switch for wipers incorparate the windshield washers. I think it will be a prefix of PR50.very nice looking car.

Afraid it's not here. I am looking at various cars and this one seems to be unique in Oz. A late Sport sedan. Also seen a nice 2 door Sport.
I simply don't have the time these days to do a full re-build anymore. A bit of a tidy up is ok.

The NZ GTR wasn't bad but that roof damage is a big putoff for me these days. You would need to spend a lot of time on that part alone, assuming one could also find the s/s trim also. A better bet would be a new donor roof but they are not easy to find either !

I did more checking here too on importing. It seems that Vic Roads want an Engineer assement of the car too, adding to the costs, if it's later than 1969

Its not hard to near double the cost of a car out of Japan with all the extra costs.

If it has aircon.. even more costs involved and some of the JAP cars have it too.

I think Dave got a very good deal on his green GT/R. Looks very nice too.

Hi Glen, it cost me $150 to get an engineer to compliace my car, and he came to me to inspect the car and tell me what it needed, the later the model the more they need, he had a check list and went though the car with me. He also supplied a tyre placard and certificate. I foung getting the car cerified was real easy, bigest problem I had was Canberra, and that was because they are not real clear on what paperwork they need. once I had the permit, the car was in my garage in two weeks.
The only other hic cup was that the car had to be steam cleaned when it got here, I also has the dealer evacuate the air conditioner and he gave me a certificate to prove it and also hung a tag on the compressor to say it had been done.
Would I import another one? You betcha.

Geoff :)

Thanks for info ......
was the air con done here then ? I think the guy here has to have some sort of certification also.

The importer here quoted much more than $150 for the check !

I guess it's know what the final cost will be upfront with no surprises !

I had the air done by the dealer in NZ. and he left certificate in glove box, don't know if customs looked at it, but had no trouble.
I found a list of the engineers on the web and had a ring around, there were 2 in this area, one a wanker who going to play merry hell, and the other a real nice bloke, very helpful, and he also confirmed ole mate was a wanker.

Thanks.

The other Qn in my mind though "what is a reasonable price for a Sport sedan in Australia"? Any sedan really.

One can quickly spend into the mid $teens for a car. Almost any car imported out of Japan, let alone something more 'desirable' like a GT/R say will be in that range, landed.

Anybody have a handle on what a sedan is actually 'worth'? I know it 's what a buyer will pay, but the purple sedan recently advertised on here for $8k i think, seems not to have sold. Is that too much for a sedan?

I did find a nice standard sedan here at way way less than that last month, but the seller decided to keep the car in the end for personal reasons. Upt to then, I though i would arrive in Merimbula in a Bellett!

I can put you on to a nice 1 owner genuine nannas car it will cost you $4000 it was hit with hil and repaired when it was near new, it has a slight hammertone effect in the paint maybe a denib and polish in order so not 100% original. Then there was kjb's little delight this would set the market place i would say :?:
If you want details on the one owner email me and i will give you a contact.

a genuine Sport here...?
i'd say it'd have to get the same money as a GT, simply due to rarity and desirability.
