Hi All

One of the problem areas is the fuel tank, upon removing I noticed what seemed to be small bits of rubber or some type of material between the tank and the body, is there supposed to be a gasket there?

Thanks
Mark

Mark,
Up to chassis number 4047852 there was a packing used. From there on there is no mention of any gasket. Most of the cars that I've worked on, have been a black sealant. In my sedan I used a sealant that is also to seal my windscreen rubbers. You may have something available at your local windscreen repair shop. That's where I got mine.

Thanks Dave, thats helpful ...

We have a tacky rubber sealant that we use between cooling tower sections that will probably work fine when we put the tank back in the car ..
