Post subject:  Re: WE'RE HOME, again.

dave, alot of cars that us 'old' guys know of that have never been on here before were there.

but what a week!
1.5 day drive to get there,
2.5 days of cars and seeing my "bellett family",
1 day at the Coona Cup.... watching the "phillies".... there must be something in the water up there, coz DAMNNNNNNN!!!!!!!....
1.5 day drive home.

the score card was:
2048km round trip,
another trophy brought home that goes "straight to the pool room" (and yes, we drove thru Boonie Doon to get there.... seriously  ),
god knows how many cans, stubbies and bottles consumed,
45,712 bugs to clean off the car,
and 1 crow that learnt the hard way that he was too slow....

then when i got home, i had a quick 270km round trip to Phillip Island in the arvo to pick up some stuff!

but now it's back to the reality of work, and it sucks, because it's now the longest time bewteen this Nats and the next!

was awesome to see everyone again, and to meet alot of new faces too.

btw... here's my view in the mirror from the whole trip....

Glad to hear everyone made it home safely...well nearly everyone :(
As we had picked up a new member to the orphange Walter the wasp was towed home off the back of the truck. This is not normally a problem until you pack the front of the cab with luggage. Somewhere between there and here the gear lever was knocked into 3rd(we think) and Walter travelled home at about 7000rpm  for sometime.
looks like greg will get to play with the motor after all.
It still runs and drives, just like a james bond movie with the smoke haze to hide you.

I dream of my car sitting on 7000 rpm.
Not too good in reality though

Great Pics Matt!!! And I have to agree with what every body has already said and say "What an Awesome 6 days of Belletting".

I managed to travel about 2300km's with out having to put a spanner on my car, I do have alot of rattles and squeaks to chase but my little car performed great. I also managed to travel 2300 km's with out number plates and I only got pulled over once in Shepparton.

Can't wait for next year!!!!

Ooohhhh, Liz, thats real bad luck. Sorry to hear that.
But I wouldn't go the V8, I reckon you'd need half a ton of ballast on the back to get traction!
But a nice little twin carb twin cam - they come up from time to time!

Glad everyone had a great time. You all made it one for us. Thank you all.
Cheers, Matt.

Post subject:  Re: WE'RE HOME, again.

It's not me rebuilding walter we have a retired mechanic that still puts a day here and there. When we got home patches was supposed to go to town a be painted in a booth but the panel shop want's to leave it for a few weeks as he is busy. In the meantime i have a few other things on the go between work jobs. I am currently fitting a twin cam g180w into a sedan in which we are waiting for a sump. This is a project car for my mother [hoon] what chance did i have. Then there is rolie that we picked up in coona He has his rear quarters, one door, roof repaired from the tree that he tried to catch and is now in primer.
As for a wasp transplant i can get a v6 isuzu engine we have one in the holding yard a m62 eaton supercharger half in and half out the bonnet would look sweet.
If you think i am dreaming the old man will vouch it could happen as he ownes a v6 supercharged pajero as do i it was a little experiment a few years back. All done in the shed other then the manifolds that were casted down the road. l reackon a wasp with a blown v6 would be hot and would look tuff but Lizzie ownes both wasps also. I have to do what i am told.
Georges would be go as most is done. :D

Walter gets his old engine back standard on the outside outher than a pair of carbs but molested on the inside ;). with a new diff centre he will take some catching..
