*EDIT 12/12/10. please go to page 2 of this thread for details of the memorial service for our late, and great friend, Mr Ken Bloor. thanks. Brett.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I inform the users of bellett.net of the tragic passing of our esteemed colleague Ken Bloor, username “P.R.90” and co-organiser of the 2010 Bellett Nationals, on December 9, 2010.
Ken was not only a very highly respected member of the wider Bellett community, with a wealth of informative and practical knowledge stretching over 4 decades, but was also a very close and personal friend of mine for many of my years involving Belletts, as well as being a friend, advisor and general “walking Bellett encyclopaedia” to many who knew him.
Outside of Bellett’s, Ken has 2 now adult children, a son-in-law, and was to soon be a grandfather for the first time. Hobby wise, Ken was a very keen and successful fisherman, and even ran his own company, custom making some of the most beautiful fishing rods you would ever see, and I, myself, am proud to own a few rods that have come from Ken’s hands.
The news of Ken’s passing has come as a massive shock to us all, obviously with his loving family being the most effected, and Nicole, Belinda and myself give our sincerest condolences and all of our love to Carol, Carly, Adam, Byron and lil’ bub at this most tragic of times.

To bellett.net users:
Please feel free to post your condolences and wishes to Ken’s family and friends here as well, but as a close Bloor family friend, and administrator of bellett.net, I simply ask that we all completely respect the privacy and feelings of the Bloor family, and at the request of the family, if anyone wishes to make further contact with them, would you kindly do so through me first.

Brett Wild. PR91.
bellett.net administrator.

Ken.... I’ll miss you mate, and you’ll never be forgotten.
I can never thank you enough for the help and guidance you have given me over these years, and not only with my cars, but with life in general.
Till we meet on Bellett street again.
Brett, Nicole & Belinda Wild.
Melbourne.

Sincerest condolences to Carol, Carly, Adam, Byron and junior on the tragic passing of of a great mate.

Kenny boy, since our first meeting in Albury, 1989, we've done many a silly thing together, but they've always been a laugh and a half!
Mate, you'll never be forgotten.

Steve & Peg.

and yes, the street sign is real. "Bellett St" is in suburbian Melbourne, and we had some made a while ago by the company that does them.
cheers.

I would like to put forward my sincerest condolences to the Bloor family and to let them know that I am thinking of them in what must be a difficult time.

Ken has been a big part of my Belletting life on the forum and at the nationals and it was sad news this morning to hear of his passing. I know that I will miss seeing him wandering around the nationals, rum in hand sharing a joke with use all.

We'll miss you Ken!

Thank you Brett for the above entry and I think that Carol, Carly, Adam, Byron and bubs all should know that he will be sorely missed.

Ross.

I never got to meet Ken but after he sent me some business cards for my collection, I called him to say thanks and he seemed like a really nice man. He also said alot of nice things about me and my car and I am upset for all the rest of his family. I wish I could have met him in person.

It is with the welling of tears in my eyes that I submit this post in memory of an incredible man I barely knew.

I wish to express the deepest of sympathies to the entire Bloor family, imediate and extended alike.

I personally never knew Ken like a lot of people on this forum do, I only had the privilage of meeting him face to face for the first time at Coona. He had contacted me several times after Adam spotted my car at work one day, inviting me to come along and join in several car meets around Brissy. Sadly I never made it to any of them and missed the opportunity to have spent some time shootin' tha bull with a true wealth of knowledge. He almost never bothered to call me about Coona as I hadn't turned up to any local shows prior, but he gave me one more shot. Thank you for your patience Ken, it was an honour to have met you, laughed with you and recieved not only much valued advice but to have been welcomed into your Bellett family.
I owe it to Ken for meeting the rest of you too. If it wasn't for him I still wouldn't have known that other Bellett's exist.

Treasured memories indead.

I too offer my condolences to Carol, Carly and family.

PR90 Ken was a true Bellett enthusiast and one of the rare boys who had been into them since they were brand-new.

His enthusiasm for the Bellett cause will be a big void to fill, as will be his enthusiasm for the Nationals, his enthusiasm for having a huge belly laugh and his enthusiasm for sharing his one-billion-proof home-made rum.

Again, my heart goes out not only to his family, but to all those for whom his passing strikes a raw nerve.

Gone too soon, never forgotten.

Dave and Sarah
Adelaide

shocked and saddened to read this news.

My sincere condolences to all the family.

It is an understatement to say he will be missed, both by his family and friends and his extended family of enthusiasts and sports-people.

To all Kens friends both New and Old.
Words cannot explain how much your support means to the family at this time...
It was bearly days ago we were sitting infront of the computer going throught the coonabarabran photos with him cackling away about what a fantastic time he had at the weekend and catching up with you all, his bellett family.
His comments were to me "I wish I was still there"..... It had even inspired him to get his 66 out of the shed (1st time it has moved or had work in it in about 10 years I think).

It may take some time but I can guarantee that we will make sure it gets to a bellett national for ken...

popper bear, dad, mate & grandad, where ever you are. we love you & miss you but most of all hope you found your peace.
until we meet again...

Byron & Carly

Carol and Family, on behalf of the Isuzu Car Club of Australia and all its members, please accept our sincere and deepest condolences at this sad time.

I am, as our Members are, deeply shocked at Kens passing!

Ken was in his element at Coonabarabran and we all enjoyed the effort and time he put in during the weekend of the Event, he will be sorely missed at our future Events!

I have spoken to Brett about a way in which we can permanently remember Ken Bloor, I know he would be very proud.

May he rest in peace, we will catch up one day down the track, as we all will!
Dave Maurice.

it is a very sad day indeed.

Ken was so full of life and fun and his attitude to people is reflected thru the "Bellett Community".

He will indeed be missed greatly and by so many of us.

Condolences to Carol and the family

Chris

We uphold all of the sentiments expressed so far.
I have been thinking back over the good times so recently at Coonabarrabran and in the years past at the nationals. Our lives have been greatly enriched by having Ken in them, as they continue to be by Carol and all the members of this friendship family. Our friendship is the greatest gift that we can give and is at the very heart of our humanness.
Dear Carol and family, we pray that you are comforted in this difficult time.
Our Love, Matt, Tracy, Rhys & Milli.

Thank you Brett for making this opportunity available.

no worries matt.

even tho it's been a very hard thing to do, I, like alot of people on here, am very saddend and upset by his passing, but it's the least I can do for a wonderful man who was not only a true mate to me personally, but was a genuine enthusiast of the Bellett cause and always so willing to help others in our Bellett family in any way he could.
I know that Ken was proud be be involved with us all, especially with co-organising the nationals, and was greatly looking forward to future events, which just makes his passing so much more tragic and difficult to come to terms with....
personally, even tho I'm not part of Ken's immediate family, I've been touched by the sentiments of everyone who's posted so far, and I think he would be proud to know that he effected all of our lives in a way that we'll be eternally gratefull for.

something i just found, in my sometimes unusual travels around the internet, i think is very fitting for us all at this terrible time...
Quote:
blaise pascal, french mathematician, 1623-1662:
"Time heals all grief, for we change and are no longer the same person.”

i think it's so very true, as we will never be the same again without Ken in our lives....

R.I.P. Ken....

My sincere condolences to the Bloor family on the shock passing of Ken.
I only met him for the first time at the Coona Nationals.
He was a genuinely nice guy who enjoyed a chat and a laugh and talking anything Bellett
He was a true Bellett enthusiast and will be deeply missed by all.
