Time to change the calendar, and what a great looking GT
Geoff you gotta be proud of that one 8-)
Belletts get a lot of looks, some say I remember them,
others don't, some ask a lot of questions and say
why did they stop making them and so on.

Anyhow I ran into another GT owner, but not a
Bellett GT. Keen to look over the Bellett and ask a
few questions. As we didn't know one anothers car
we decided on a photo or two.

WHAT IS IT? The dark blue one I mean ;) probably
more HP in 2cyl's than the Bellett, no I wouldn't swap.

Gerry.

Factory Five Daytona Coupe.
Kit car replica of a Shelby Cobra hard top. LeMans race car. Ford V8, smallest would be a 289, usually a 302 or bigger. At least 2 1/2 times the power of a Bellett GT-R (in 1960's trim) or Gemini JT190.
A real pain in the behind after the owner got serious, started spending two grand on parts between each race, and has probably enrolled in a performance driving night school class because in the last three months, for no apparent reason, he went from also-ran to almost a top ten driver in the region. I'm all for healthy competition but this is getting too much like work...

I like that. It's not all about go - Looks matter. A lot.
I wouldn't swap neither! ;)

But it probably would go nice, and be fun. Thanks for showing. (I had no idea what it is.)
Cheers, Matt.

Here they are if you want to check them out:

http://www.factoryfive.com/coupehome.html

I was looking at the 33 as a kit I could do in the future - but it would be heaps of body work as I have found out - damn fibreglass!!

Cheers
Neil

PS: Anyone in Townsville this weekend for the V8s - I am heading down to check it out and if anyone is about would love to catch up for a beverage and chat.

This is nose cam video from the black Factory Five Daytona Coupe.
His fastest time at this event was 43.959 seconds.
The fastest Prepared Class time was 43.056, by a multi time national champion in a V8 Mustang II MiniBoss race car.
The fastest time of the day was 42.170, by a professional driving instructor in a Formula V open wheel, aircooled VW powered race car.

a friend of mine has just purchased a Fomula V with a VW motor.
it is now having a motor re-build after his first day out on the track. still not sure what is the reason for the failure.
i believe it goes like the proverbial

it all started with a track day that got him hooked on the adrenalin and so it goes......

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... dont think i will get one of those past her indoors :)

Today was a good day for the little FF Isuzu, and a not so good day for the Factory Five Daytona Coupe owner. The Daytona Coupe owner installed larger rear brake calipers and performance pads, with generic street pads on the front. Probably too much rear brake on dry pavement. And we had a half inch of rain before and during the racing heat. The Daytona Coupe owner had a lot of trouble spinning the car when applying the brakes.
The little FF Isuzu ran 60.169 seconds, while the Daytona Coupe owner ran 61.440 seconds.

The bad news is that the Daytona Coupe owner got a ringer to co-drive this event. He had invited the region race driving instructor to drive the car. The little FF Isuzu was in first place, until the co-driver took his last run, and pulled off a time of 57.889 seconds.

Lots of rationalizing coming from the Daytona owner about not being good at driving in the rain, having a bad day, and how if he only hadn't DNFed on his last run...
Not a peep about him opting to use his treaded tires in a steady rain, while the FF car was on race slicks and had to slow to a snails pace to corner without sliding.

It's a thread about Daytona Coupes. But you know what a FF Gemini looks like, don't you?
