Gday all.
Some would remember back an 2010 i was approached by IUA about using my Wasp at the Sydney Motor Show as part of the company's 'made from history' sales pitch, and i had the honour of representing the oldest Isuzu Utes in Australia by having it on display there with the newest D-Max's.

Well I'm very proud to confirm that my Wasp will be on display with IUA again over the 3 days of Nov 23-25 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre for the Australian Motorcycle Expo... And it will have my little H100 Honda on it's tray too!
Isuzu has asked me to help out with their promotion to add an old skool element to their display by having the old Isuzu with the old Honda to sit next to their newest model D-Max with the newest model Kawasaki in it's tray too.

Nov 25 is also the 'Classic Japanese Day' in Melb too, so if anyone is keen on coming to one, make it worthwhile and get along to both shows. U won't be disappointed!

To say I'm pretty proud at being asked to show my Wasp once is understatement, and to be asked again for my car and bike is an honour I'm even more proud of...

Cheers.

dave, nah.... yahama is a dirty word.
but i'll forgive coz it's still better one that starts with "D"...!

latest word is that apparently a Wasp with an old skool look Honda is worthy of displaying at the main entrance as a bit of a draw card too....

hi all.
well, not only was Nov 25 the Classic Japanese Day down here in Melb, but it was also part of the Australian Motorcycle Expo at the Melb Exhibition Centre, and as stated earlier, the Wasp was there with the Honda.
after hours of detailing again on both the Wasp and Honda, making mounts to hold the bike and whatever else needed doing, it was moved into place on Thursday nite.
here it is, with the display boards that IUA had made for the Wasp in 2010, and for the Honda this year:

by all accounts, IUA we're very happy with the interest from the motorcycle community in their D-Max, which looked fantastic in white with all the Freestyle FMX artwork on it and a brand new Kawasaki in the back of it (i forgot to get a pic tho... i don't take pics of many things. i just look!), and with the interest the Wasp/Honda combo created for them too, so the whole "history" angle is still working well for them, and i'm proud to be able to assist with it.

IUA were kind enuf to give me some passes for the weekend, so a few of us went for a looky on Friday nite... was ALOT of great things to see and do.
i think i got roped into buying Kim a jetski when she saw them on the SeaDoo stand tho... somehow!
this pic of us had the security guards scrambling! they nearly freaked when we moved the baracades to take the photo... a quick ID check calmed them down!

*edit: better pic uploaded

roll out was Sunday nite, and as usual, all went well with IUA's involvement.
it sounds like there might be some more things on the horizon, so we'll see what comes along.
enjoy!

you bet Davo.
the association with IUA is something i'm proud of for us all, as they offer ALOT to our Nats each year too.
the bit of promo work i help them with is just for fun, and must admit it's a bit of a buzz being involved and seeing all the "behind the scenes" stuff that goes on with events like the Motor Show and the Motorcycle Expo. not something i'd normally see otherwise.

oh, and i found out today that the Wasp is a bit of history at the Expo of it's own now too, as it's the first time they've done a "car with bike" display. everything else has been bikes only, but IUA got an exemption to the rule as they were sponsoring the event and wanted the whole "old vs new" look with the utes and bikes.
pretty cool i reckon! :D :D :D

That's really cool Brett. :D To be a part of a historical display representing the old and the new....again.!

You know what would be the ultimate in coolness ..... If ISUZU could be convinced
that it is viable to release a modern version of our beloved Bellett :o Just imagine driving a Bellett
which had fuel injection, ABS, power steering, power windows, A/C, a good stereo and Blutooth designed in 8-)

Let's face it there was the VW bug, then the Mini that were re-released after a number
of years break. More recently there is the Fiat Bambino. Any others come to mind?
There must have been one or more reasons why the Bellett was only a 10 year project for Isuzu.
Do you know why?

Just Dreamin...

mate... i wish i did know.
we were only talking about this at the Classic Jap Day yesterday, and why the whole Bellett design was binned when they went to the Gemini. they even changed the stud pattern on the wheels, so EVERYTHING was new.
bit strange to say the least, but who would know why, as u write.
add to your list the Mustang, Challenger and Camaro from the US and you get the picture that a retro Bellett would be a big hit too.
and i'd be down to the nearest Isuzu dealer at opening time in the morning if i heard a 2013 version of a Bellett was being released, i can tell you. a modern retro twist on a brilliant 60's Isuzu design would be fantastic!

oh, and of course the ULTIMATE retro produced so far....
the Ford GT.
has no common parts or dimensions with the original GT40, but damn it's a beautiful car!
