The best ever Aussie RACER has passed away.
Jack Brabham passed away today at his home on the Gold Coast, gone to the Race Track in the Sky, he will be sadly missed by many! The only driver builder to have built, raced and Won in F1, Won the F1 Championship, in his own built and designed Race Car, NEVER to be duplicated! May he rest in peace watching the new boys from the great Blue yonder!

Yeah, sad, but he had a great life doing what he loved and was good at. 88 is a pretty good run. His memory and legend status will live on. Matt.

Have met Sir Jack a few times over the years. The last time was only 2 months ago at Phillip Island.... Belinda got to meet him this time and she was genuinely thrilled to meet and chat to our greatest motorsport icon. She had her picture taken with him (i have it here but it's too big to load for some reason....) and got a poster signed by him. All on her birthday too. Sir Jack was a ruthless competitor, but always a gentleman and always fair. He always made time for people, and most importantly, never got a big head and forgot where he came from. He was the first Aussie to win in F1. He was the first Aussie to win the world championship. He was the first to win the world championship in a rear engined car. He was the first to win a race in a car he designed and built himself. And was the first, and only person, to win the world championship in a car he designed and built himself.... Add that he was the first person knighted for services to motorsport, he was Australian of the year in 1966, and became a National Living Treasure in 2012 (which he later said was the highlight of his life) and u soon see just how influential he was in the sport, and how important he was to our country. Sir Jack once said: "my goal in life is to die with no enemies... coz I outlive the bastards". Well, he very nearly did. Over 30 of his friends were killed in racing accidents during his own career behind the wheel, and more after he retired, which is an amazing feat in itself when the chances of dying in motorsport in those days was 2 out of 3.... Sir Jack will be sadly missed. RIP.

Sir J. B. was truly amazing. The legend lives on in the success of his family in Motorsport also. Will be interesting to view the tributes at this weekends Monaco GP. Ron Dennis worked along side him as his mechanic in the early days.
I'm sure Dani will fly the Ozzie flag as the true young ambassidor he is very quickly being recognised for in the paddock.
B.
