I just have to relay a story to you guys about my adventure getting a new exhaust for my 1968 Bellett.
Usually the phone calls for completing a task like this go something like:
Me: "Hello, I'd like to get a quote for an exhaust on my car"
Company: "OK, sure. We do all makes and models. What have you got?"
Me: "It's an Isuzu Bellett"
Company: "A Belair?"
Me: "No, Bellett"
Company: "Who made that?"
Me: "Isuzu"
Company: "We don't do truck parts."
Me: "Forget it"
However, last week I called AAA Exhaust Technology in Richmond (Deacon Ave) and the conversation went more like this:
Me: "Hello, I'd like to get a quote for an exhaust on my car"
AAA Exhaust: "OK, sure. We do all makes and models. What have you got?"
Me: "It's an Isuzu Bellett"
AAA Exhaust: "Which model? The square tail lights or the flat ones? You don't see many of them around anymore"
Me: "I.... You... What?"
Then my brain crashed. It's really nice to find a company with people that do actually know more makes and models than Holden/Ford and Commodore/Falcon. Very refreshing.
Anyway, the point of this post was to say that I dropped the car off at 9am, the job was done by 2pm (when I didn't give an end time) and the guy gave me a choice to swap the muffler over for another quieter one if it was too loud. I was curious about that but when I got there it was pretty much spot on and he'd squeezed a resonator into the rear that gives it a nice note. The service was great, the price was exactly as they quoted over the phone (which according to the receipt had a $100 discount attached), with the only fault a greasy finger print on the door... easily wiped off
I'll post some pics in the next day or so, probably after the All Japanese Day on Sunday.
So, at the end of the day if you're looking for exhaust work in Adelaide I'd thoroughly recommend giving them a call. I've had two valiants done there recently too so I know the work is very consistant.
(Just for reference I don't work for them or even know anyone who works there so no conflict of interest here)
Cheers,
Ross.
