Hi, new member from America here - I have to start by saying I'm not an Izusu buff per se, but when I find an unusual car that needs to be rescued I like to get the word out to those who can save it.

The car in question is what I'm pretty sure from looking at the brochures on this site a '67 Bellett 1500 two-door sedan (not a GT but it has a GT steering wheel). It's white, RHD and looks pretty complete although somewhat rusty. It has Japanese license plates that look as old as the car itself. The dashboard has a small auxiliary panel with an extra odometer (maybe for rallying?)

I found it this morning in a self-service wrecking yard, Pick-A-Part. The location is in Monrovia, CA at 3333 Peck Road. The phone number is (626) 445-2922, and the Specialty Car Sales & Parts manager is Sid Niles at (951) 232-5500. (The location is about a mile west of the Irwindale Raceway.) They would most likely sell the car whole rather than part it out.

Happy hunting!

-Chris

Wow! Nice spot up Chris, thanks for sharing it. Any idea how much the yard wants for the car? Shipping from CA to Australia is relatively inexpensive, and there are companies here who will inspect, purchase and store the car for prospective buyers. Might be a nice project for a enthusiastic and well-heeled Bellettsti. Otherwise, the GT might look nice on someones car.

Thanks again for the details.

Cheers,
Duane

PS: No more projects for me, I'm not going after this one, but am interested in the details.

Not sure of the price - when they sell cars they're not too expensive. I found a very solid and complete '60 Hillman Minx estate (no, not a Husky) there a few years ago - my boss paid $1000.00 for it. They have a large holding area of '50s and '60s American cars and occcasional old European and Japanese iron - there was a 280 SEL 4.5 being parted out today.

Hey Chris this sounds really cool!

Any chance you could get a few photos of the car. Would be great to see what it looks like even if it never makes it to the AUS shores.

Thanks

Chris

Hey Chrisbcritter thanks for the heads up, I called out there today and spoke with Sid and he said this is a complete project car and it's all there but not running at present, imported from Japan.
When asked how much he wanted for it I was told he wasnt sure yet, but did tell me they have seen them on Ebay for 2-4K , so they realize this car has some value.
Damn , how many Belletts do we have in the states now? 5 or 6? ...... 8-)
Guys I will call them back because I am curious to see if they will provide any photos and the chassie number.

Later
Mark

Hey Mark,

did you ever call them back and get a final price on that car or get a chance to get some pics sent?

We need some closure on this one :)

Cheers,
R.

Hi Ross

I made a second call out there and tried to see what they wanted for this car but never did get a solid answer, they did ask me some questions about the Bellett and how much I thought it was worth ... really hard to tell without seeing the thing or really knowing exactly what they have.
anyway I gave him the Bellett.net webisite and my address for some pics and a chassie number, but nothing so far .... waiting, waiting ..... :( , it's been a couple of months ...

link to current thread on this car, with a further link to some pics.

car is actually a PR10 1300 2 door, same as yours Mark, just a model earlier. my posts explain the differences in the pics provided between the PR10 and PR20.
cheers.
