Okly dokly....
As those that were at the Nats in Tassie will know, the 2015 Nats is in Qld, so that got Gav and myself talking while on the plane home yesterday.... It's about time we southerners did a road trip north, ala the northerners past trips south, so basically at this point:
Who's interested?

Conversation late on Sunday nite seems like a couple of the Tassie guys (yellowperil and rod at least) would luv to come next year, so I'm thinking at this stage (yes..... very early days, but just putting it out there for discussion) that they would boat it over to Melb, meet up with us Vics (which early conversations suggest we'll get more there next year with enuf notice) head towards Albury (hint.... Gricey), on towards Rye Park (hint.... Farmer, bembokabellettbloke, Mr Carter, etc.), up the scenic way past Sydney (maybe some of the Sydney crew could join in), then Mudgee-ish (hint.... 1968GT, Smithy's, etc), and then onwards to Toowoomba.
My apologies if I missed anyone along this route as I'm just quickly thinking about where the road roughly goes and who's along way off the top of my head.

Obviously none of this is set in concrete, but I was thinking 3 or 4 days there so it's an easy cruise, do the Nats, maybe a couple of extra days to muck around (i personally have a 95yo grandmother in Brissy I'd like to see while up that way, and I'm sure others will have things they'd like to do too), then meet up somewhere and cruise back over a few days.

So....... Whatcha think folks?
Obviously am completely open to suggestions as this is just me thinking out aloud at this point.
Cheers.

U bet Grego. More than welcome anytime mate!
Added u to the list Dave. Already confirmed Gaz and Monn as well.
We did a rough count earlier and I reckon we could have a dozen or more roll into Toowoomba, so that'd be fantastic.

Like you said Brett, its early days, but sounds like a plan. Tracy and I were talking about it and will be going, all being well. Great for us its in the hols, as the kids and Tracy would not be able to take time off again. I am very grateful for that.
it would be great to be part of a dot to dot trip!
Cheers, Matt.

As u correctly said, early days..... Very early, but just putting the idea out there for all to consider and then we can plan what's what easier when we need too.
Looks like it mite be a good trip already, so here's hoping.

Direct up the centre via the Newell Hwy is about 1000 miles, so 1600k.
Honestly it's a shit of a road and those who have travelled it as much as me will agree it's best avoided on trips like this.....
From what I understand, going via the coast-ish is only about 200k further, so I'd bet on having change from 1800k each way. Not too bad really if we space it over 3-4 days.
So...... You're in too mate?

Hey Dave, that "cold" thing is a bit of a misnomer in my experience. We left here with frosts most nights, and mid teens days. We went into mid teens days, but no frosts. We were near the coast a lot of the time, but thats where many people live. In the highlands it gets cold, like here on the north island.

The shock was coming home to these 30 degree days. :!: It was still high teens down there.
If Rye Park wasn't such a great place, I'd be tempted to live there. Houses can be quite cheap.

Cheers, Matt.

From my observations mate, there are HEAPS of unclaimed Belletts to be found. Just establish a Tasmanian lost Bellett home. ;)

Then, hire a car carrier and ship the lot over there!
Its like a beautiful dream!
Cheers, Matt.
