Post subject: | Hello all! I'm Röbot from WA *bows* |
Hi all, My name is Rowena (aka. Röbot) currently living in a little dot on the map of Australia called Merredin, WA. I moved to this wonderful little speck in the middle of nowere about 3 months ago with my partner in crime Tara aka Ronik and our baby (st. bernard) Dora aka Zappy. I have just become the owner of a Wasp which has been sitting on a farm in the middle of nowhere since about the mid 80's. Darren who is a friend of mine and someone you may know from the Facebook Isuzu page sent me a message to inform me of the little nugget sitting on it's lonesome so I went out and saved the little beast. And honestly could not be happier!!! I love cars... I actually would sell my house before I sell my Gemini (The first car I ever bought) so lucky I don't own a house Current car list: 1975 Holden TX Gemini sedan - currently in finishing stages of resto and first car I ever bought. Fitted with G200, stage 3 cam and twin webers and soon to be twin exhaust. 1975 Holden TX Gemini sedan - was going to be a donor car but still runs.... no plans for this as of yet. 1968 Datsun 1600 sedan - Bought this for my partner for her birthday two years ago as it was her dream car. 1 million plans... all of which are yet to be decided. 1972 Ford MK1 2 door escort - Snapped this baby up late last year. When the Gemmi is finished the Escort is next in line. 2003 Peugeot 206 - Offroad rally car. What can I say. If I didn't end up a parts manager I would have been a rally driver. Peugeot is currently out of action while awaiting parts. 2005 Holden VZ Commodore wagon - I always have one 'new' car which is what we go on holidays in so this was it. Unfortunately I've upgraded and the VZ is soon to be gone. Also the only car I currently own with a tow bar so currently does the rescue missions like that of the Wasp rescue mission. 2013 Holden VE 6lt Series 2 SS Sportwagon - My big baby. My new car and soon to be fitted with a tow bar with the appropriate towing capacity will take the job of pick ups of my dream cars and family holidays. 2011 Holden Colorado - My company vehicle which I pretty much always drive unless I go away on holidays (because it's a horrible ride on the open road) 1965ish (no idea of actual year) Isuzu Wasp - My new baby and the reason I am sitting in the dark typing my into on this forum. I actually know NOTHING about Wasps but I am here to learn and I can not freaken wait to get started on him! Once again, 'Hello' my fellow Isuzu lovers. *hugs* <3 Röbot PS: I'm a social media junkie so add me on: Facebok: Röbot Elwin Instagram: robot_and_zappy |

Hello Robot, You certainly have a collection! Your Holden's should have been Fords, , and the Colorado should have been a D Max, yes I know, the Colorado wasn't your decision!! I must say the Sports Wagon are a nice car WELCOME to our group, we are all ISUZU nuts and love it being that way! When you get the Wasp going maybe you should take some holidays and attend one of our National Meets, GREAT FUN!! You, Your partner and the Wasp would be made very welcome! Have a look under Events, then Bellett Nationals. |

Welcome robot_ i have just moved on my Gemini 1984 as i was lucky enough to purchase a 1965 Bellett teardrop sedan. They are also rare and quite hard to find these days ( like your Wasp is also a rarity ) go here to start some info on your Bellett (Wasp) viewforum.php?f=13 under, My Bellett, click on new topic your Wasp engine and gearbox are nearly identical to early Bellett Sedan gear, so easy to fix/repair. chassis and brakes and suspension and steering is a little bit different but there is no question that cant be answered by the Bellett.net collective! just ask away. and no question, however silly, is left unanswered. we were all once newbies on the Bellett scene. just ask the guys about tappet adjustment, hot or cold??? LMAO! OZ |

Not that I want to hijack Robots thread here, but a quick explain of the new problem. The drive home after getting the tappets right was a treat.....until i got in the driveway and smelt oil. Open the bonnett to find the gasket goo had let loose at the rear of the engine, about half a litre all over the fire wall and bell housing, . It was on your advice OZ, we did away with the very sorry looking gasket and used goo only. The rear bolt seemed to feel like it was going to strip tho. When I removed it, the whole pin helicoiled itself out of the head with a neat thread of alloy off the head So, the combination of no gasket and slightly perished cover bolt rubbers had us screwing it down to the limit of the thread and then turn the pin in the head as well. So this has turned into a mini project. I hope to have the GT running by mid next week. I have bought a roll of Gasket cork to make my own. Also some loctite gasket goo no.4, and rubbers which will lift the height of the originals. Then it's a visit from "Captain Thread" to helicoil thread back into the head. Any advice on this dilema, OZ or anyone?? B. |

your right in getting the threads sorted, cause any issue with alloy needs to be sorted. the cast heads i have never had the tappet cover work that loose to cause serious leaking. but the rubbers are getting harder and more worn and we may very soon using washers etc to get a good seal. the biggest issue with the cork gaskets was the shape was nearly always not correct, due to packing, transport and the complex fitting to all the half circle areas, and silastic helped keep it in place while being bolted down. as your making a new one from new material, it should work very well and also seal well too. but as they became harder to get, i have just used silastic which had worked ok. Howdy Rowena, Thanks for saving this beauty, it was a bit far for us to come and retrieve! Many on here will help with parts where we can, but Wasps are rare and so are their bits. Some of us have some though. Reading around the forum will give info, and you will see that some of us have a very soft spot for Wasps. Bembokabellettbloke (my brother) bought one new in 1965. I hope it all goes well, cheers, Matt. |

on the upside a wasp share a lot of steering, suspension and brake parts from the chev luv. That is where a wasp resto is easy. As for the engine second hand Gemini 1600 rods bearing new gem std pistons. luv vrs kit cj151 timing chain for the luv are still available. Will see this thing alive and well again. Water pumps can be obtained I have been getting them x Japan. Most other parts someone will help as early bellet are interchangeable. A holden piazza diff center will make it highway friendly by around 1100rpm@100km a few small mods needed but worth it. Don't worry bout the grill yet we wont see you with a full resto and no grill |
