Hey people,

I've had these pics sitting around on my PC for a few years now and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this unique Bellett.

A few years back, it appeared on eBay.

It's an early-model 'teardrop tail-light' sedan with what appears to be LX Torana A9X wheelarch flares added to it! I would never do such a thing, but it appears to be a fairly cohesive job and the phat arches are adequately filled out by the wide, retro 13" alloy wheels.

Close inspection will reveal that while it has the standard 1964-1966 grille, the headlight surrounds are actually Isuzu Wasp! Edit: The Wasp headlight surrounds were first noticed by Brett PR91 who is awesome.

Here are the photos as they appeared on eBay:

That donk looks like it's got a fair bit of curry behind it - phat carbies at least anyway!

The car sold and I didn't think much more about it.

Then I was away at the first Bellett Nationals I attended (2007 at Corowa, I think) and on the same weekend, my friend "Antus" (our esteemed system administrator) was in NSW, travelling the north coast with his girlfriend.

When we got back, he emailed me pictures of a 'Trust Bellett' he saw, so named due to the great big 'Trust' sticker on the back window (Trust being a Japanese performance tuning car parts company).

He thought the car must have been coming or going to or from the Bellett Nationals, however I never saw it and it was certainly too far away from Corowa to be involved. Strange co-incidence!

Here are the pictures he took:

This stupid machine won't let me scroll down (hooray for IE Explorer 7 or whatever it is.... if you can use Mozilla Firefox at home, then DO IT!).

So to continue the story, this guy's car is on Cardomain and I've sent him a message back when the forum started that says "Join our Forum!" but again, it's never turned up, which is amazing for one of the most distinctive Belletts in Australia!

I think it was from the Cardomain pics that I was able to see that the headlight surrounds were Wasp, as it's certainly not clear enough in the original eBay photos.

So that's my perspective of the story of the Trust Bellett! Anybody know anything about it?

Cheers,

Dave

Drag Bellett !!!! Looking at the rear wheels and tyres in Antus' pics, looks like it's prepped for burnout sessions. Isuzu fact or fiction ?!?!

Hi guys,

These are some pictures I saved when looking around at Belletts early on.
Not entirely sure if this is the original owner, current owner or past owner.
Don't have a date for them either other than I saved them on the 21st September 2009.

Cheers
Rob

Not the ex Roslyn Gore, now Farrell, car Gents, that car was written off when Roslyn hit a cow late one winters afternoon on her way home from work.
Roslyn took a while to recover, the car was a write off.

Cheers for all the updates; RobSA I've seen those pics too but can't remember where... probably Cardomain, but maybe on Dick's site?

Either way, the car still appears to be a mystery machine.

Yeah I think I said above, I'd NEVER put those flares on my car, but seeing that car already has them and they're done so well, if I did own that car, I'd NEVER take them off!

Cheers,

Dave

Hey I saw this post got bumped back up and hoped that someone had found it!

Damnit! The more I look at it, the tougher it is. I hope it's still stashed away and not languishing in the weather.

Most of the photos (except eBay) look pretty recent; how long have Qld had brown plates? Well the photos are at least as young as that event.

It's seriously about one massive wing away from being a full-blown sports sedan on the outside, but filthy street fun-able on the inside.

I hope it shows up. Yo dude, I said about 2 years ago - join the forum!

Cheers,

Dave
