Heya guys, Here's an odd one; I can only assume it's dated about 1965 as it matches the style of both this Australian Wasp brochure: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=216...and this Bellett brochure... viewtopic.php?f=51&t=34From what I've seen in the other brochures, the Elf was only a little truck but could apparently take a full TWO TONNES! The forward-control look is super awesome... and so are the suicide doors. I've never, ever seen one of these in Australia; I've seen a rusty-as Elfin pickup on a farm somewhere looking forelorn (on the Internet; not in real life!) but have never, EVER seen one of these... Onto the specs and the GL201 1991cc 4-cylinder petrol looks pretty torquey. Attachment:

Anybody remember seeing one of these in real life??? Cheers, Dave

Seeing one? Dennis bought one new, but a 1967. Largely the same from memory. I spoke to Dennis tonight and he's going to mail me some photos. (He doesn't email!) I'll post them soon. I rode around in it a lot, he delivered Besser Blocks in it (with 'P' plates on it) and I'd go and help (a bit - I was like, 8). The rear-hinged doors worked well - you don't have to open the door as far to use the step - good for tight inner-city laneways. It was a column shift, with the centre seat on the engine cover. Later Dennis bought a Nissan 4.5 tonner, and Dad took over the Elf. He loved the gearchange -it was as easy as a Bellett. The first truck he'd had with a full synchro 'box. It was our 'car' for a while.
We loved Isuzus............ (Some things don't change)
Cheers, Matt.

I had a Elf, was a bit later than that one, I think it was early 70's, was a TLG53, very nice little truck to drive at the time, like most of the early Isuzu I had, it had a head gasket issues, it ended it's days one hot day in a January, was taken out by a train. I was insured with SGIO, and from memory the bill I got for the train was around $150,000. passed it on to SGIO and heard nothing more. I then bought a Ford F350, with 16000k's on it, biggest heap of crap I ever owned, was to soft to work, and to expensive to run. Better stop now, tears are starting to well in my eyes. Geoff

WOW. Where are they now, I wonder!!?
I imagine Geoff's was the later ones with the normal doors and the rounder, sculpted front? I remember seeing those with Bedford badges as well as Isuzu badges - assuming I'm thinking of the right ones, anyway.
As for Dennis's??? Whoah! How cool is that!?

This the same ELF that I had, was the same colour, but it was in good condition until the train hit it. Geoff

I was wondering if that was the one.
It's the same sort I saw in Tasmania with Bedford badges!
I think I have a pic of it....

Here's the Elf I saw in Tasmania in 2003 with the Bedford badge. I'm not sure if it was legit or someone had just put it on, but given that by the early 1970s Isuzu products (like the Chev LUV etc) were being sold thru GM-H dealers, it stands to reason that it was a local thing. Attachment:

Note they didn't remove the Isuzu badges though! Cheers, Dave

I think it did have the Bedford badge on it, and from memory was a '73, TLG53, was a nice little truck to drive, 2lt petrol motor, with 5 speed on the tree.
